ExMinion OfDarkness
Nanobreaker

I believe the word "filler" describes this card best.

Getting rid of monsters without damage calculation is a good thing. We've been aware of that for a while; we ARE running Exiled Force (most of us, anyway) and Mystic Swordsman Lv. 2 is gaining popularity. So this guy gets through Level 3s. Okay... But they have to be face-up. Meh. And this guy's Level 4, so he still gets stopped by the LLAB and G-Bind that would stop him from attacking the very Level 3s you're probably trying to get rid of. Ew.

I could think of a lot better monster choices for 1600/1800, or a couple of better monster-removal monsters. Maybe if he could attack a face-down and still kill it without damage calculation or effects working, and if he was Level 3 himself, but until then...

Dark Paladin
Welcome to another week of fresh Elemental Energy cards. Again, I must apologize in advance for this week. It's another meh week at best, but...but, we do have a good week coming soon, I swear.

Anyway, here is today's card.

Nanobreaker

Machine
EARTH
4 stars
ATK 1600/DEF 1800

If this card attacks a Level 3 or lower monster, destroy the monster with this card’s effect without applying Damage Calculation.

This card is as I stated for the week, meh. 1600 is ok for an attack, but not great. 3200 if you play Limiter, but do you REALLY want to waste your Limiter on this? The effect is also rather meh.

The only two cards that come to my mind that this would really help you with are...

Injection Fairy Lily and
Spirit Reaper

That's about it, and if you really want to or can find a slot in your Machine deck, go ahead.

Ratings:

2/5 even in it's Machine deck...not a real use me thinks

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Otaku

Well, things are finally settling down for ol’ Otaku.  I still am behind (most of my writing would have occurred this weekend, but I was very busy during this time), so it looks like they’ll be mostly “quickies” this week.

Nanobreaker is a Level 4 Earth/Machine Effect Monster with a 1600 ATK and an 1800 DEF.  There’s no summoning restriction in the effect, so it’s a nice simple drop from hand for a Normal Summon/Set and there’s no worry for Special Summoning.  Earth has some support for itself, Machines have some great Support, and there is a small amount of overlap.  Well, overlap that is at least moderately playable.  1600 ATK is a hair low but 1800 DEF is solid, requiring a serious beatstick to destroy.  All this card needs is a solid effect, and at the very worst it would be another “could have been” that didn’t see play because of more overpowered cards.

Unfortunately, the effect is sub par.  Simply put, few Monsters that are Level 3 or lower will be played face up.  Those that are played in such a manner are either being protected from attacks by their own built in effects or the effects of supporting cards.  Additionally, it only applies when Nanobreaker attacks.  It fails as a defensive measure against Level Limit-Area B/Gravity Bind decks since it requires Nanobreaker can attack.  If it worked whenever Nanobreaker was involved in battle, or better yet, just while it was face up in play (similar to King Tiger Wanghu) it’d be a solid, respectable counter for such decks (still not overly useful, but it’d have purpose).

The only cards I can think of that would really be hurt by this card and that see a respectable amount of play are Spirit Reaper and Injection Fairy Lily.  Both can be a pain, but can also be dealt with just by using intelligent play (or nearly any effect based Monster Removal).  I can maybe, maybe see including a single copy Side Deck if that deck uses Earth or Machines.  Oh, and I suppose it can annoy non-Level Limit-Area B/Gravity Bind utilizing A Legendary Ocean, since there are some good Level 4s that become fairly high ATK Level 3’s in conjunction with that card.  Possibly pester some E-Heroes as well.  Keep in mind how I am describing this: not “decimate” or even “complicate”… but present a minor inconvenience for established deck types that aren’t tops for a lot of tournaments (so if you work hard, you can probably get even more obscure examples…).
