Last Will

Given how many one turn kills this card was used in, I'm suprised it didn't get restricted earlier. But it finally got nuked down to 1 per deck, and rightfully so, even outside the OTK.

There are a lot of ruling confusions on this card, but the UDE rules team just added some clarifications to this card to make it easier to deal with. The BASICS of it, though, are when one of YOUR monsters was sent from YOUR field to YOUR graveyard, you can search for a 1500 or less ATK monster and Special Summon it.

Even though it can be good outside the one turn kill, as it's a conditional 1:1 (if you've lost or Tributed a monster, you give up this card and get 1 monster from your deck), it doesn't see much play as the field presence you gain from this card, getting a 1500 ATK (possibly more after boosts) out isn't as good as the 2100 ATK field presence you can gain by dropping a Cyber Dragon.

It's a great card, but sadly, you won't see anyone playing it much. That is, unless it makes Top 8 in a Shonen or Nationals. Then everyone will netdeck and it'll see lots of play.

3/5 all

Last Will :

Wow, this card has definitely been revamped, I might deck this,

Last will, up until now , had been a card that was fairly decent, but not really over the top, but with the recent modifications its play could skyrocket, being an excellent counter to things like Sakutsu armour by being essentially a free special summon.

Get a Reaper, get a Mystic tomato, for god’s sake get a Sangan !!!

It used to be that this card would only pop up in the odd OTK deck,. But now I really think it could go further.

Dark Paladin
Last Will, a great card for two decks, and sadly, only one of those decks is playable in our format.

The first is of course being the Traditional Magical Scientist OTK deck. You have to have most of your lifepoints still (more than 7000) and fetch the Scientist. (Of course, I'm assuming you have Catapult Turtle out) Then, summon any ONE of the 2100 attack fusions, you know them. Continuously lanuch them until your lifepoints are all but gone.
Then, launch the Scientish and finally Catapul Turtle.

The other deck is Exodia. You can use it in Main Phase two to summon Sangan or even an Exodia piece to retrieve later. Adding speed to the Exodia deck...beautiful. However, there really is no reason to run this outside of either of the above mentioned decks.

Finally, and not necessarily as playable, it can search Y Dragon Head and Z Metal Tank, so it does add a little speed to the XYZ/VWXYZ deck.
Just something to consider.

Ratings:

5/5 in either of the above mentioned decks
3.5/5 in XYZ/VWXYZ decks
1.5/5 elsewhere

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Last Will

-This is officially the best week of cards I have ever reviewed.....

The restriction of this card was a great move on UDE's part. This card, despite its simple effect, is one of the most broken in the game. The ability to summon a mobius and clear spells and traps then to use the effect of last will (after sacrificing a treeborn frog or sangan) to search your deck for a cyber stein. This is a cruel, cruel, and very fun way to win. Yet this card is what allowed rescue cat to work. Its restricting will definitely be missed.

Nonetheless it is a sweet card

I give it a

3.8/5

The reason for this is due to the fact it still requires you to lose a monster. If you summon fourth a stein after using the effect of mobius it is not all that bad b/c you just won the game. But under normal circumstances it can be a bad draw.

Last Will review

I’m back, for anyone who cares I’ve been away because of exams and taking a week to relax.

So Last Will was restricted this time around because you could abuse it in OTKs. The first prominent example of this would be Magical Scientist. It’s made its appearance several times since then and has rightfully been restricted.

Outside of OTKs, this card could mostly see play as a tech in control decks, which would let you extend with Don/Reaper. But then again extension and expending cards isn’t always a good thing. This fact combined with the simple fact that it would already be situational, makes it not worth running. You can pull it off, but it won’t always help you and there are better options out there.

Traditional: 4.0/5 (the restriction hurts scientist ftk)
Advanced: 2.5/5

For all other cards this week

You have two options.
a) Run the card
b) Lose
