Dark Paladin
Wednesday

Closing the week, we look at a Gemini monster, Gigaplant. Gigaplant is a Level 6 Earth monster with 2400 attack, which is good, as it matches other one tribute monsters attack strength and has 1200 defense.

Gigaplant IS a good card, but what it can do is very limited. If you second summon Gigaplant, you can Special Summon a Plant or Insect monster from your Hand or Graveyard. Those are two good options, the problem being, what monsters that are Plant or Insect do we have that are worth summoning at all?

Not very many. If we ever got some worth while monsters that fit both those types, and Geminis became more playable, than this guy would surely be worth using. Until then, this card is all but worthless.
Besides, when was the last time you were playing against an Insect or Plant Deck?

Ratings:

1/5 not for being bad, but for other reasons listed above.

General Zorpa Gigaplant

Hey, another good gemini! It's Il Blud-like effect will Special Summon any insect or plant from your hand or graveyard. There is a very fast deck that utilizes Swing of Memories, Lord Poison and Lonefire Blossom in order to creates a seemingly endless stream of attacking plants and insects. Il Blud is good, Doom Shaman is decent, and there is no reason for plants to be held back any longer due to a lack of muscle.

We're taking a break for a little while from CotD, so enjoy this last one and get out there and compete!

I think Wednesday contains the essence of Books*A*Million.

Gigaplant is awesome; it's a bug version of IL Blud, there's just a few things stopping it from becoming stellar:

A) It doesnt have a recruiter monster to search it out on your opponents turn.
B) It relies on the grave so it cant be used with Doom Dozer

Too bad. It'd still make a fun deck though.

3/5 all.

Ed Wednesday - Gigaplant

Today I'm back after a while to review Gigaplant with the rest of the COTD crew, and I would like to point out that I have mixed feelings about this card. It's a Gemini, which is a type of monster that I have disliked for a while now. However, this card is the Plant/Insect's Zombie Master. Gigaplant really gives the deck type an opportunity to be competitive, but the deck type isn't just because it doesn't have enough other monsters that can support the theme. Gigaplant itself, however is a great card and can help Plant/Insect decks swarm relatively quickly. There isn't much else to say about this card except for the fact that it can be deadly when more Insect/Plant support is released.
