Well, we continue along, and come to another themed card, and one I have mixed feelings about...

#7

Elemental Hero Stratos

I never quite understood the uproar over Stratos. He's a solid card, and definately should be played in an E-Hero or D-Hero deck, but he isn't very splashable, and I think that's what hurts the card the most.

He has two good effects. First, being able to destroy a number of Magic or Trap cards equal to the E or D-Heroes you control, excluding himself, or, you can choose to add an E or D-Hero from your Deck to your Hand.

So, he's at least an instant +1, maybe more, or at least he should be, and he gets his effect if he's Normal or Special Summoned. Really, I think his biggest downfall is that he is of the Wind Attribute. Even his attack (1800) is great.

Ratings:

Traditional: 2/5 Wind, or E-Heros, here?

Advanced: 5/5 It's own deck.

Art: 4/5

General Zorpa Elemental Hero Stratos

The only Elemental Hero to be limited and for good reason! In the right deck summoning him under any conditions is going to get you a card from your deck or destroy a spell or trap on the field. He now works with Evil Heroes, Destiny Heroes and Elemental Heroes, making him probably the most versatile card in the game. And to top that off he has an amazing 1800 ATK. It is not enough to combat Breaker, but enough that your opponent will not enjoy having him on the field. This is the card that makes DDT, Perfect Circle, Destiny LaDD and Big City decks work and is probably the best card to be found in these decks for advancing their strategies.

David "BobDole" Hoffman Elemental Hero - Stratos

Numero 7.

This is actually one of my favorite cards to come out this year. While not game ending in most cases, he's a great card with a Gadget like effect.

Elemental Hero Stratos is a great card with the right support. He's an 1800 ATK (yay), Wind (Meh), Warrior (Yay) with an awesome effect. Since he's Warrior, he has an unholy amount of support.

- The first effect is just the conditions. Though it is pretty nice that his effect activates through two different Summoning conditions. Always nice to have more versatility.
- The first option is actually the more unlikely if all the options to occur, though it is certainly nice to have it when running a Hero deck. Destryoing a Spell/Trap for free is always nice.
- The second option is really where Stratos proves his worth. The ability to search another Hero in your deck is just fantastic. This basically makes it a free card from hand, and can lead to much more hand advantage when you search out either Malicious or Disk Commander.

In a Hero deck, this card can really do some heavy damage, since it pretty much guarentees a Hero in deck. In a regular deck, this guy plus Malicious adds up to some pretty decent combos.

Traditional: 1.5/5 He really does not belong here
Advanced: 4.5/5

Carrotizer Elemental Hero Stratos
Warrior/Effect/WIND
1800 ATK/300 DEF
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can select and activate 1 of these effects:
•Destroy Spell or Trap Cards on the field up to the number of "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero" and "Evil Hero" monsters you control (not counting this card).
•Select and add 1 "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero" or "Evil Hero" monster from your Deck to your hand.

1800 floater with unbelievable effects.

When this card just came out, everyone used 3 copies – Warrior-Type Gadgets with S/T removal? Now, even though Stratos is limited to 1, this is one of the cards that appear in large quantity in Top 16.

Stratos in DDT – grab Diamond Dude or Plasma for Destiny Draw or Trade-In, or nuke any annoying Spell/Trap. Dimension Fusion also works.
Stratos in Perfect Circle – field presence, search out Disk Commander, or Malicious for Destiny Draw or Fear Monger to bring back Disk Commander

There is nothing new about Stratos – except that Evil Hero is included in its effects now. We all know how strong it is. Although Pulling the Rug works against Stratos, this is one of the cards similar to Breaker the Magical Warrior – automatic card advantage that cannot be prevented.

Traditional: 3/5 It sure does a good job of fetching Destiny Heroes.
Advanced: 4.5/5 +1 upon summoning, searchable, flexible effects?

Master Tricks
Elemental Hero Stratos
Love this card since it is excellent support for E-Heroes or especially D-Heroes. It can either search for D-Heroes/E-Heroes you need into your hand OR you can destroy spell +trap cards on the field equal to the number of D-Hero and E-Heroes you control besides E-Hero Stratos. It also has a solid 1800 ATK, but lacks defense which is only 300. That's not important since this format currently is mostly about aggression and inflicting a bunch of damage at once as swift as possible.

Tradtional: 1.75/5
Advanced: 4/5 (Very good with D-Heroes/Perfect Circle/Destiny Dragon)
Ed

Today's card, Elemental Hero Stratos, was limited to one before it even became playable, and for very good reason. In three's, this card would be able to abuse its effect by searching itself out twice and then possibly destroying opponent's spell/traps rather quickly, which really helps with card advantage. Apparently, UDE noticed this beforehand and limited it to one. Also, this card has fairly decent attack.

Stratos has been seen in various decks, from D-Hero Beatdown to just plain Elemental Heroes. It's extremely useful because it is capable of searching the deck for useful D-Heroes such as Disk Commander and Fear Monger, which help card advantage and to keep up a fast-paced deck. It's been a key card in the previously mentioned decks, and continues to be a staple in any deck that includes more than three Destiny/Elemental Hero monster.

That's not all, though. This card's second effect is also extremely useful. Stratos can destroy any spell/trap on the field when it's summoned. Because this effect can be triggered when its special summoned, it can seriously be abused. Destroying a spell/trap also means removing a monster equipped to a Call or Premature. An 1800 beatstick isn't too bad either, so an 1800 ATK beatstick with an additional effect of removing an opposing spell or trap isn't bad at all. The cost of this effect isn't at all bad either. Chances are, if you're running this card in your deck, that you will have another E-Hero or D-Hero on your side of the field. Thus, this card's effect can almost always be activated, and you'll gain a +1 no matter what.

Traditional: 3/5 – I can see some of the Advanced Decks that run this doing okay in this format.

Advanced: 4.7/5 – Not perfect.

In a Destiny/Elemental Hero Deck: 5/5 – A staple.

Pwii here's #7......................stratos!

i heard that this was awesome in japan. an 1800 beatstick that searches out another of itself and then destroys two s/t. w0w. now I've played 3 on my spirit caller game, and you only get the s/t destroying combo about %65 of the time. but it rocks, if just for beatdowns. now I dont think it should be limited, but semied. because this is the card for e/d-heros, and it cant be splashed at two.

5/5 e/d-hero decks
4/5 before it was limited

art: 4/5 its a bird! its a plane! its a frog!

Elemental Hero Stratos

Today we look at one card that makes any D Hero, E Hero, and now Evil Hero Card searchable in one's deck. Or instead of searching, you can destroy spell or trap cards equal to the number of E Hero, D Hero, or Evil Hero cards you control. This guy is definitely a great card.

When this card first came out back in early February, there was a huge uproar for it. This was without a doubt for good reason. Stratos makes so many deck types more playable than they already are. Stratos is seen in: PC, Twilight, DDT, and now more some E Hero and Evil Hero deck types along with Big City.

Anyways, he has a solid attack of 1800, which is nice and he's a level 4 monster. And another great thing about him is that he's a warrior, which has lots of search like RotA to get cards to your hand. I also love his 1st effect because he's like a built in Mystical Space Typhoon or Harpie's Feather Duster to a degree and really helps out with the little amount of spell/trap card destruction that we have right now. When this guy was run in 3, it was kind of broken, and now he's down to one and he's still pretty amazing.

In Traditional, I don't see Stratos being all that effective since Chaos is rampant. Other then that, in Advanced, he's amazing in the decks he's involved in, otherwise, he's not worth it.

My Ratings:

Advanced: 4.9/5

Traditional: 2.2/5

Art: 4/5
