Dark Paladin
Friday

I don't see why we use our good cards, even our mediocre cards in the beginning of the week, and wind the week down with crap, but it's not my call usually. Closing the week, we have Maiden of Macabre, who is a Dark Spellcaster that is Level 4 with 1700 attack and 0 defense.

Effect: This card destroys a monster, it gets a Counter and gains 200 attack for each counter. This really isn't worth playing either, and the effect isn't quick enough or strong enough, especially for this Format.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1/5

Advanced: 1.5/5 I'd like to say not garbage...

General Zorpa Maiden of Macabre

To settle this, the name is pronounced "makobb". I have gotten like 3 emails about the pronunciation of this card, so stop it NOW! Well on to the card. you have a 1700 ATK Spellcaster DARK monster that gains a spellcounter for every monster that it kills. Right away that is not good, as the only Spell Counter Card That really saw play was Breaker, and even he sees little to no play right now. The fact that she has to kill something in order to get her ATK boost is even worse. Usually you need a HIGH ATK in order to kill stuff, so getting bigger from killing little guys is not generally a good thing.

Most monsters in the game competitively right now are +1700 ATK, making your Maiden able to kill only stuff like D.D. Crow, Sangan and Ryko. She is not as solid an addition to the Spellcaster Lineup as many more viable cards, but she can hold her own in battle, and can even get to be a big beater if you can kill enough stuff. It might fit well into Tomas Mijares' Middle city deck, as it reduces all monster's ATK down to a point where maiden can actually be of some help to you.

All in all a cool idea, but just not worth the cardboard she is printed on.

Today’s card up for review is Maiden Of Macabre. This card is decent, but we already have quite a few cards that have an effect like this. To put it short, you shouldn’t be able to get this guys attack too high with all the top decks, and what they are using. If you are able to get this guy beefy then Kudos to you! Stuff like Shrink and Book of Moon will be this cards downfall, upon other cards of course

Pwii Well, as someone or another proved in the one tournament, GB andos was good because of his attack. So this is good too, right? Well, not really. Andos was versatile as it could attack stratos on the first turn and it was a GB so it had endless support. Unfortunately, this takes quite a few turns to turn really powerful, so no.

We had Dark Armed Dragon as DAD, now we have Maiden of Macabre as MoM. The maiden is like Zombyra the Dark, but instead it gains 200 ATK and spell counters for each destroyed monster. It works with Apprentice Magician and can be used for Deck Devastation after two monsters she destroys. Although it may not look like much, whenever someone attacks MoM you can play shrink for damage and a counter. Maiden of Macabre is a card I believe would be better earlier in the game when there were less effects going on to destroy monsters. I like the art though. That is one cool scythe.
