General Zorpa Flamvell Firedog

Now here is a card in stark contrast to yesterdays card. This puppy boasts 1900 ATK, 200 DEF and is a FIRE Beast. These are already impressive stats, especially as the 200 DEF bit is actually going to make the card MORE playable than less.

The effect allows you to Special Summon any FIRE monster with less than 200 DEF from your deck whenever it destroys something in battle except for the Firedog. As that list is REALLY short its playability right now is kind of moot. It is with the release of the rest of the Flamvell cards that are going to make this card good and probably raise the FIRE attribute from the wretched state it has been in since Volcanics fell out of favor.

Flamvell Firedog …

A new week of monsters from the new set … excellent.

Ok – Flamvell Firedog … I like him. 1st off – Fire type. Very underused and underappreciated attribute. Far from the best, but there a lot of hidden gems in there. 1900 ATK on a 4 star body? – u KNOW everybody loves these. Beast type? Awesome, although if he was level 3, he’d be even chewier! Man … I would so trade in 200 ATK points or so to drop him by 1 star … but I digress… His stats are solid. His effect? – just short of sickness. When he destroys a monster in battle and sends it to the grave, u get to special summon a monster from your deck, as long as its fire and has only 200 DEF points. … AND it cant be another Firedog. Now the immediate problem is the lack of options … but don’t u just LOVE cards like this? – the ones that make u dig back through every card u ever owned – all your once thought of as useless commons to see what new thing u can come up with?
I do!

So how overall EFFECTIVE his effect will be is based on what u can find, but the principal of the effect is almost second to none. Giving u a special summon regardless of level or ATK for killing one of your opponents monsters is "ultra field advantage beatdown" in its purest form. And asking a 4-star 1900 ATK bruiser to do the job makes it almost textbook.
There may be some limited options now … but he’s a card that will only get better. Don’t sleep on the Firedog. He’s big.

Tuesdays card is quite the flaming beast, Flamvell Firedog. Now, im kind of interested in this "Flamvell" theme, especially because of this card. When it destroys a monster in battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can special summon any FIRE monster with 200 or less defense from your deck, except another Flamvell Firedog. Its a solid 1900 attack monster, and can pull various popular FIRE monsters like Fox Fire, Volcanic Shell and etc. from the deck. Fox Fire is one I would probably use with this card, only because its annoying to have to keep destroying. If you already have a Fox Fire with Flamvell Firedog out, use Creature Swap to send Fox Fire to their field, destroy it, grab another from the deck and during the end phase you get the destroyed Fox Fire back. Now theres another Flamvell that removes a FIRE monster with 200 defense from play to inflict damage equal to its attack points. As I said before Firedog has a solid 1900 attack. That can be a lot of damage. However I dont think its in Ancient Prophecy, I cant remember but still, with effects like that possibly being in the future, I see the Flamvells being a possibly decent theme.

Dark Paladin
Tuesday

Cerebus, the original dog from hell, Flamvell Firedog for you traditional Yugioh players out there, now stop me if you have seen this before. A Level 4 (or lower) Fire monster with great attack (1900) and miserable defense (200). I remember when Fire monsters and Decktypes were prominent...

Remember Solar Flare Dragon Lockdown/Burn? You might not, it depends on how long you have been playing. Remember the Volcanic Deck? You should, that wasn't a horribly long time ago. Now, uncharacteristically of Fire monsters, Cerebus doesn't burn your opponent, he Special Summons a Fire monster with 200 or less defense, aside from itself.

The list of these monsters right now isn't so great, and he IS hurt by not being able to pull himself. The Flamvell Archtype is interesting, and could be some fun, but for now is probably best used in combo with other Fire cards.
