Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua
#ANPR-EN017

There can only be 1 face-up "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card. Your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target. This card can attack your opponent directly. While this card is in face-up Defense Position, your opponent cannot conduct their Battle Phase. Once per turn, you can inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the DEF of this card. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is used.

Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua, and I start off by saying I don't like the Earthbound Immortals. I think it's one of the worst ideas for an Archtype ever, I don't care how great the 5D's cartoon makes them look. Furthermore, we have an Immortal Whale? Most of the other ones at least look cool, but this is a threatening Whale...

All right, we have a Level 10 Fish, who is of the Dark attribute with 2900 attack, odd again for our Whale Earthbound, and 2400 defense.
Now, only one face-up Earthbound Immortal on the Field, and it's destroyed if there is no face-up Field Magic Card.

Now, as par for the course, you can attack directly with this, and your opponent cannot attack this card. Once per turn, you can inflict damage to your opponent equal to this cards defense (2400). If you do, you can't attack. Also, if this card is in defense position, your opponent can't attack. I'm sorry, I think all these cards are crap, and are only really playable in their own Decks.

Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua …

Uhg … between the Koa’ki Meiru crap and these Earthbound Immortals … It’s such pain just writing the name of these monsters!! Let’s call this one Chacu …

Anyways … Chacu is fairly good. It’s one of the stronger Immortals – 2900 ATK – so it’ll muscle over even those 2800 brick houses … it attacks directly, but unless u are punching for the win, u just don’t want to leave something THAT strong … or ANYTHING at ALL on your opponent’s side of the field if u can avoid it. And if u are scared of what ur opponent could have facedown in the spell or trap category – then u don’t have to attack at all, and just use Chacu’s burn to deliver 1200 points of damage (half of his 2400 DEF, math-whiz …) each turn till another option presents itself.

Yeah, not much else to say. If u are dead-set on playing the Immortals, this would be one of the good ones to try out and build a deck around.

Time to end the week, with my favorite Earthbound Immortal. Chacu Challhua was pretty sick in the anime aye? Swimming around through the satellite. Anyways, Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua is todays Card of the Day, hip hip hurray. Like all Earthbound Immortals a field spell is needed and it can attack directly, as well as it not being able to be selected as an attack target. 2900 Attack means for some seriously decent damage. If Chacu Challhua is in defense position, your opponent cannot perform their battle phase. Wow, thats one sick effect, especially since there is one other card in Ancient Prophecy that breaks the defense position AND direct attack effect. Spirit Burner is an equip spell that lets you switch the equipped monster into defense position once per turn, this makes it a possibility to attack directly, hide in defense position while Chacu Challhuas effect prevents them from attacking. Thats one sick combo really, theres only one problem, and thats the fact you are more than likely going to be staring down Dust Tornados, Breakers, definately Heavy Storm and other various spell and trap removal cards. Chacu Challua has another ability but doesn't compare to the damage Chacu can do if combined with Spirit Burner. Chacu while in defense position can deal damage equal to half of its defense once per turn but you cant attack the turn that effect is used. This can be pretty handy too, since you dont want to go running into a Mirror Force or something. Chacu Challhua is a humbly welcomed Earthbound Immortal and im sure someone will find a way to make him rather playable.
