Today's card is Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant, aka, the Odin tuner that's not Vanadis. Valkyrie is only two stars instead of four, and she can only be used for Odin, but she comes with her own set of tricks. First off, she can be used with non-nordics, unlike Vanadis, such as Phantom Skyblaster or Gravekeeper's Spy. Also, if you normal summon her while you control no other cards and your opponent has a monster, you can remove two nordics from your hand to special summon two 4star 'middle finger tokens', and make an instant Odin. Normally a minus 3 is a bad thing, but pulling out a turn 2 Odin could give you instant game. All in all, I think Vanadis is better, but Valkyrie is good in her own way, and definitely deserves to be run in Odin decks.

Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts, winner of the "Least Pronouncable Name in Yugioh" award, is one of the key pieces to the Nordic deck. With 800 ATK and 1100 DEF, he's not sticking around long. But as a level 3 EARTH Beast he becomes amazing. Firstly, when any monster you control is destroyed by battle, you can Special Summon Tanngnjostr from your hand. Second, any time he's switched from defense to attack position, he Special Summons a Nordic Beast from your deck.

You can use this effect to summon Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts and summon a level 7 Synchro, like Black Rose Dragon. Or, you can summon Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts to set up an Aesir summon. Since Tanngnjostr can be summoned with Super-Nimble Mega Hamster or from your hand, you should be able to trigger this effect very easily.
