To close the week, we shift back to Mermail, and we look at Mermail Abysspike.  Seriously, aside from how good they are, my only real qualm with Mermail Monsters is the length and craziness in their names.  Abysspike is a Level 4, Water Monster, who's a Fish, with 1600 attack (meh) and 800 defense (equally meh).  Anyway, this is one of the more useful Mermail Monsters, he gets the ability to discard a Water Monster to the Graveyard, when Normal OR Special Summoned, to add a Level 3 or lower Water Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  You can only use this effect once per turn.  Abysspike is a combo card, he adds another piece to your Hand, to further things along, adding speed to an all ready speedy Deck.

We end this week the same we started off, by talking about Mermails. Mermail Abysspike is a key card in a Mermail deck and does everything we need a Mermail monster to do. Fist, it discards a Water monster to the graveyard to give us our Atlantean and some Mermail monster’s effects. Next, it allows us to search our deck for a level 3 Water monster for use on our next turn or as a discard for one of our Water monsters this turn.

Unfortunately, we can not search for a level 3 and under monster as we could get Deep Sea Diva, but there are still some pretty awesome level 3 monsters we could get like Atlantean Marksman, Genex Undine, and Mermail Abyssdine, Abyssgunde, Abysshilde, and Abysslinde.

Now for just some of the cool things that you can do with Mermail Abysspike. Set Mermail Abysslinde. When it is destroyed by battle, special summon Abysspike then use its effect to discard Atlantean Dragoons to get Abyssgunde. Get Mermail Abyssmegalo with Dragoons, and then on your turn, summon Abyssmegalo by discarding Abyssgunde and another Water monster. That gives you Abyssmegalo and Abyssgunde’s effects and we have not even summoned yet. And the hits keep coming…..

I think you get the picture. Plusses for days. If you are playing a Mermail deck, you definitely want to be running Mermail Abysspike.
