Monday

We open our week with Amarylease, a card that is SO close to being good, but the text on it really hurts. We have another meaningless card in terms of stats, 100 attack and 200 defense, an Earth attributed, Level 1 Plant, that you would likely play solely for its effect. During your Main Phase, you can remove this card from your Graveyard from play to Normal Summon a Tribute Monster with one less Tribute than required. You can only use the effect of Amarylease once per turn. Now, let's look at the problems here...the fact this is a Normal Summon as opposed to Special Summon obviously sucks. Furthermore, the fact it's not even worded "an additional Normal Summon" really sucks. We don't play a great deal of Tribute Monsters, and as far as assisting in doing so, this card is fairly situational, and rather average I'm afraid.

Welcome to another card of the day!!! Today we got a new plant monster that is pretty good. Let’s see what this flower can do.

Amarylease
Attribute-Earth
Types- Plant/Effect
Level 1
During your Main Phase: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; you can Normal Summon 1 monster this turn for 1 less Tribute. You can only use the effect of "Amarylease" once per turn.
ATK/100 DEF/200

So this monster doesn’t look too great in terms of stats. It has horrible attack and defense points and is also a plant monster. It would be nice if it was a tuner or had another effect to make it more useful. Sadly this monster is only useful in a deck that is built around it. It isn’t splashable in most decks but can be a fun card to play.

The effect is the best part about this monster but it needs to be in the grave to activate it. You can basically use its effect to make your tribute monsters need one less tribute to summon them during the turn it’s used. It isn’t very good with monarchs because they need to be tribute summoned to activate their effects. This card does however work very nicely with cards like Vanity’s Fiend, The End of Anubis, and Jinzo. Each of these tribute monsters can be devastating to the opponent and win you games.

It is a shame that this monster is only useful while in the grave. It can be thrown into the grave with cards that mill like Lightsworns or even Dust Knight. Overall this monster can be a fun card that can actually be competitive enough for local or casual gameplay. Amarylease probably won’t be able to do much outside of that.

Advanced: 3.5/5
-This rating is for Amarylease in a deck that is built it. It is a horrible card in any other deck.

Traditional: 1/5
-It’s just way too slow here.

Today's Card of the Day Review is a Common card from Cosmo Blazer: Amarylease.

This little Level 1, EARTH Attribute Plant-type monster has 100 ATK and 200 DEF. Nothing to write home about, I'm sure. Despite this, it has a useful and underrated effect. Here it is.

"During your Main Phase: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; you can Normal Summon 1 monster this turn for 1 less Tribute. You can only use the effect of "Amarylease" once per turn."

I daresay that has value in the right deck. For example, Monster Mash decks that focuses on milling can make use of this to drop less-costly Light and Darkness Dragon, Jinzo, Vanity's Fiend, and other high-level monsters. Secondly, it is a Plant so it can be summoned from your Deck thanks to Lonefire Blossom. Also, you also have access to One for One since it is a Level 1 Plant. Furthermore, you can search it out with Where Arf Thou? and add it to your hand if you are a daring Mystic Piper player. Lastly, you can mill it thanks to Foolish Burial if you want to turbo drop a high-level monster.

Of course, taking away one of the 3 tributes necessary to summon an Egyptian God like Obelisk can't hurt, I'm sure.

Heck, it is even useful in Plant decks since it does make Gigavise Normal Summonable with no Tributes and Tytannial only needing 1 Tribute. Something to keep in mind.

This card has some hidden potential. If you need assistance with the summoning of your game-winning but high-level monsters, that little Plant could very well help you out in that regard. I suggest keeping your eye out on it as time goes on.

Traditional Format: 1/5 (It's not needed there.)
Advanced Format: 3/5 (It's not that bad at all. Maybe a bit underwhelming but it is a decent boost for the decks that actually needs it.)

This week we look at more top 10 cards from people’s top 10 cards of Cosmo Blazer that didn’t get into the official top 10. First up we have Amarylease, a new plant monster. Amarylease is a simple but useful effect, by banishing this card from your grave, you can normal summon 1 monster with 1 less tribute. This is a really handy effect, and what’s more given its low level, stats and the huge amount of ways you can get a card into the grave, this will be in your grave in no time.  Granted its effect is the only thing really going for this card, so unless you play a lot of tribute monsters, this card is useless.
Overall, a great card if you play a lot of tributes (as long as they aren’t Monarchs) other than that it’s no good.
