Shifting to a Jump promo, we look at Zubaba General. This is a Rank 4, Earth attributed, Warrior XYZ Monster, with 2000 attack and 1000 defense. This guy honestly isn't as useless as his effect makes him seem, he's just outclassed by other XYZ Monsters, I'd say most notably Heroic Champion-Excalibur. By discarding an XYZ Material, you can Equip a Warrior type Monster from your Hand for this card to gain attack equal to combined attack of the Monsters equipped to himself via his effect. If you're using Zubaba, I guess I'd use one, but there's just too much competitiveness for this guy to really make a splash.

Our next promo is Zubaba General, part of Yuma’s Zubaba series of monsters which is strange since the two other members of this series are level 3 and therefore can’t be used to get this card out. Zubaba General is a Rank 4 Warrior Xyz with 2000 ATK, with an interesting effect, by removing 1 material you can equip this card with a warrior from your hand and it will gain ATK equal to the combined ATK of the equipped monsters. On the plus side, it would an easy way to increase his attack and get around any monsters in your hand that you can’t summon, but with some much spell destruction cards chances are you aren’t going to have a attack boost for long.

However, an interesting card might be better off if there wasn’t so much spell destruction cards are the moment, a bit of fun but that’s sadly about it.

Philosophical
Psycho

Here we have the first card ever that has its origins hail from the D Team Zexal manga, when Yuma used it with Goblin Attack Force. In a nutshell, once per turn you can give up one Warrior in your hand and he gets its ATK. You can use any Level 4 monster to Xyz Summon him, but since you can only equip one Type of monster anyway, it wouldn’t make that much of a difference if it were “2 Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters.” I admit that while that effect can give the General ungodly attacking strength, it’s mostly just all talk. “Oh, you have 5750 ATK? Tell it to my Trap Card.” Besides, most of the time it’s more useful to actually use your Warriors than to just throw them onto this guy.

Due to the uniqueness of using monsters as Equips, there are some funny combos you can do, but in most cases it’s too slow to pull off and it isn’t worth it; I know of nine such Warriors that get effects even if destroyed as an Equip:

Over half of them (Noble Knight Joan, Power Breaker, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, Maldoche Chouxvalier, Maldolche Messengelato) must be destroyed by an opponent’s card effect, I wouldn’t really use the General in the Decks that actually use these monsters, and I wouldn’t ever use Power Breaker in the first place. The other four (Phantom Bounzer, Colossal Fighter/Assault Mode, Brushfire Knight, Laval Lancelord) could potentially be very cool, but it still wouldn’t be the most convenient combo out there.

When the General first came out, one of my friends made a Deck based around him. He used a bunch of high-ATK Warriors, including one Gate Guardian. Someone with that huge ATK by using other monsters as Equips is fun to use, but just the fact alone that he’s reliant on Equips means it’s hard to rely on him. He’s just stopped by any form of monster removal (which every good Deck should be packing). In the end, you might as well use a monster with more ATK and another effect AND get to keep the monster in your hand. He could be strong, but he’s too easy to stop and uses up too many resources.

Trad: 1/5

Adv: 1.5/5 (it’s a bad sign when you can get destroyed by Tsukoyomi or Maestroke, and even if you can block their attacks, they’ll still destroy your Equip Card)

Aesthetics: 2.5/5 You know, there are three Zubaba cards. Two of them are Level 3 and this guy is Rank 4. Other than the fact they’re all Warriors with heavy armour, I don’t really see what their deal is. What I find funny is that the General’s abs are exposed; I bet if this were a woman, the card people would’ve covered that up.
