Monday

We open the week with Acellight, a Normal Magic card that fits the Galaxy and Photon theme from last week. If you control no Monsters you can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Photon or Galaxy Monster from your Deck. This seems good as Special Summoning is almost always a good thing. However, you cannot Normal Summon or Set in the turn you activate this card. Also, you can only activate one of these a turn, but you're still allowed to Special Summon in other ways. There are better ways to get a Monster Special Summoned to your Field, that don't cost or restrict you in ways like this card does.

MOAR Zexal tin cards! Accellight is a card that allows you to special summon a level 4 or lower Photon or Galaxy monster from your deck. You can't normal summon the turn you activate this card and you can only activate one per turn. Accellight is best used as a means to get something on the field to help Xyz summon. Use Accellight to special summon Galaxy Wizard, change his level to 8, then you Galaxy Expedition to special summon Galaxy Knight or Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon in DEF position. What I like is that it's good for any Galaxy of Photon monster that are level 4 or lower, so monsters like Photon Pirate and Satellite are easy to get out as well. A nice card, but you need to plan a head a bit before using.

Okay today we are reviewing another Photon/Galaxy support card. It is a decent support card for the deck it’s designed for and may even see some play. Here it is!!

Accellight

Normal Spell
If you control no monsters: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Photon" or "Galaxy" monster from your Deck. You can only activate 1 "Accellight" per turn. You cannot Normal Summon/Set during the turn you activate this card.

This card is pretty simple. It lets you special summon a wide variety of Photon or Galaxy monsters from your deck. This card may not seem very great at first because you can’t normal summon or set during the turn, but sometimes that might not matter. This card is a nice searcher for Photon decks and is definitely a decent option for the deck. It is nice that you can still special summon the turn you activate this card. This means you can play this spell to special summon a Photon monster and then special summon more monsters with other cards. The real problems with this card are that you can only play this card if you control no monsters and it can slow the deck down. So overall this card is decent but has too many conditions and restrictions that hurt this card’s playability.

Advanced: 2.5/5
-In a Photon deck this card could see some play. It isn’t the worst support card for the deck but it definitely could have been a lot better.

Traditional: 2/5
-I’m unsure if this card would be good here. It lets you special summon light monsters and doesn’t stop you from special summoning. It could be okay in this format if used in a deck that can utilize it well.

Accellight
Normal Spell
If you control no monsters: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Photon" or "Galaxy" monster from your Deck. You can only activate 1 "Accellight" per turn. You cannot Normal Summon/Set during the turn you activate this card.

We are continuing to look at the new 2013 ZeXal Tin this week. First up is Accellight, a normal spell that allows up to special summon any level 4 or lower "Photon" or "Galaxy" monsters from your deck, if you have no monsters. However you can’t normal summon/set this turn.

Well as I mentioned before in other reviews, being able to special summon a monster from your deck with no cost is a powerful effect and this is no different. However it does have quite a big catch, you can’t normal summon or set. This is quite bad, granted you can still special summon monsters to your heart’s content but not being able to normal summon is a bit of a gamble, one which could backfire quite quickly.

Overall not being able to normal summon is a big drawback, but being able to special summon a monster from your deck with no cost is still nothing to sneeze at.

Traditional: 3.5/5
Advanced: 4/5
