Shifting to Bujinki, specifically that of the Amaterasu, we continue along this week. This is a Rank 4 Monster of the Light attribute, and the Beast-Warrior type, requiring three Level 4 Monsters for an XYZ Summon. Immediately we're going to compare and ask if three Monsters are necessary, ie if the effect(s) pay off. 2600 attack and 2500 defense are very good, so that does bode well in its favor. He has two effects, one which can be activated during your turn, the other during the opponent's turn, both by discarding an XYZ Material. If it's your turn, you get to Special Summon a Level 4 Monster you have removed from play. If it's your opponent's turn, you get to add a removed Level 4 Monster of yours to your Hand. It works very well in its Deck, and it's powerful, but I do wonder about the three Monsters for the XYZ Summon. I still like it, but I'm still not sure how well this Archtype is going to take off.

Bujinki Amaterasu
LIGHT/Beast-Warrior/Xyz/Effect/Rank 4/2600/2500
3 Level 4 monsters
You can only control 1 "Bujinki Amaterasu". Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; apply this effect, depending on whose turn it is.
● Your turn: Target 1 of your banished Level 4 or lower monsters; Special Summon that target.
● Your opponent's turn: Target 1 of your banished Level 4 or lower monsters; add that target to your hand.

From a new Archetype to an existing archetype, Bujins and here we have a new Bujin Xyz monster. Statwise it is a Generic Rank 4 Xyz Monster which requires 3 Monsters, being Genric is good, but I’m not keen on Xyz monsters that require 3 or more monsters for material, must of the time it just isn’t worth the effort of getting three monsters on the field. Anyway it is a LIGHT/Beast-Warrior, not the best combo bit not the worst either with 2600 ATK and 2500 DEF, both are very good for a Rank 4.

Effectwise, it has the condition you can only control one of these at a time, which is always annoying. The first effect can only be activated during your turn, which allows you to special summon one level 4 or lower banished monster. Being able to get back a banished monster is always good and the fact you special summon it during your turn is really good, allowing you to do anything with it.

The second effect can only be activated during your opponent’s turn and it allows you to add one of your banished level 4 or lower monsters back to your hand. While going back to your hand isn’t as good as a special summon, it is still useful and it is a quick effect which is a big help. Of course you can use that monster on your next turn.

What also helps this monster a lot is the fact that barring its name there is no mention of Bujin at all, so it can work in any deck to uses a lot of level 4 monsters and likes to banish things.

Overall a decent Rank 4 monster, it would have been better if it didn’t require 3 monsters.

Bujinki Amaterasu

I have a rule with XYZ monsters. If the card requires more than 2 material, it better have a pretty amazing effect. The problem with Amaterasu is that you have to work hard to break even.

It's a -3. Well, you start at -2 with the materials because the monster itself is a strong beater. Even if you can take that -2, you still need to have the three monsters out.

The “your turn” effect makes it a -1 and the “opponent's turn” effect will bring it to a neutral 0. If this card can destroy something other than a floater in battle, it may plus. But if your opponent negates the summon or uses quick removal, it's going to be a -2 or -1.

The good thing is that it's not Bujin-only, but still all decks would be cautioned to use a -2 card that may or may not even break even. So, it's a not a “bad” card. But why would you use it?

Terrorking

Hello, my darlings. Hello and prepare to bask in the glorious light of my wisdom.

Today we come to the not!DARK Dark Bujin Xyz that happens to be Light attribute. This card is an enabler. Most of the time you will have banished Bujins since a lot of them self-banish, so you can use this during the opponent's turn to add them to your hand so you can use them for defense. During your turn you can special summon them to your field to make Xyz monsters (not just the Bujin ones).

Good card for the Bujins. It's also a good card for any deck that can use it since it lacks specific restrictions beyond "You can only control 1 copy." The real issue with this card is it's a 3-material Xyz monster. Chances generally are that if you can make a 3-material, you're likely in a pretty good position already. It's worthy of consideration.
