Angel Trumpeter

This is a really fun card for a number of reasons, but the main reason is because it’s the only one of its kind. That being a level 4 normal tuner. And frankly, you can kind of tell that this monster was made to be the best at what it can be. With amazing level 4 stats and being an earth/plant type, which is what you want for synchros, it’s pretty much the best normal level 4 monster in the game not named Metalfoes Goldriver.

All sorts of shenanigans can be had with Trumpeter. From Rescue Rabbit to Painful Decision to Unexpected Dai, getting a level 4 tuner with normal-monster support is big time, and leads to easy Naturia Barkion and Beast summons, rank 4 XYZ’s, and level 7 or 8 generic synchros. And I won’t fail to mention it’s an easy drop in plant synchro decks and actually fills a hole there. Plant synchros don’t utilize many level 4 tuners, since there aren’t many good ones that serve the purpose needed, but Angel Trumpeter not only allows for easy summons through Unexpected Dai and Tuner’s High, but it grants that option even through normal summons. The deck runs so many level 1 monsters/tokens, that a level 4 tuner is just what the doctor ordered to get into those level 5 synchro plays.

Angel Trumpeter is a card with a future. It will see a lot of play over the years, especially if it stays the only level 4 normal tuner for a while. I could easily see this being in tier 1 decks in the future, should plants ever rise again. The only way you could make this monster better would be to make it a pendulum, but then it would just be godly.

  • Inherently speaking, it's nothing special.
  • It's basically a LV4 tuner with Archfiend Soldier stats.  Big deal.
  • It could have been released in the very first set with Tuners in it.
  • This card benefits from being both a Plant and a Normal Monster.
  • It gets plant support like Lonefire Blossom and other great cards from the Gigaplant era.
  • It makes Painful Decision more viable to run in 3's by giving you more targets to run it with.
  • It's good in combination with other cards because it's easy to bring out and it can even float.
  • This card is very versatile and has room in rogue/niche decks (maybe even mainstream variants)

Hello Pojo Fans,

Angel Trumpeter is a pretty simple monster.

Good ATK, Level 4, Tuner, with Plant and EARTH support backing it. It gives plants another Tuner option, and being a “vanilla” it gives Rescue Rabbit an option to be put into a plant deck to fish out some other Normal Plant-Type monsters. Being a Normal monster it also benefits from the Normal support around the game like Swing of Memories. Likely won't see much play in a competitive plant deck, but it has potential.

Normal Monsters are easy to review because they are only their stats and have inherent support from the beginning of the game to now. Angel Trumpeter is a Level 4 Earth Plant-type Tuner monster with 1900 Atk and 1600 Def. I always enjoy cards that are bold enough to use the word Angel. The name is also not part of any particular theme, which means it could go anywhere it wants. Level 4 is the best Level in the game because it requires no tributes. This one in particular is a Tuner which makes it able to be used as XYZ or Synchro Material. Earth is good if only because it isn't Light or Dark. Every relevant deck these days seems to be Light or Dark or some combination. Earth can be quite unexpected. Plants have some support, but I don't think Angel Trumpeter will take them out of obscurity. Finally, 1900 Atk is great for Level 4. Even 1600 Def can stand up to some attacks. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this card, but it also doesn't do anything spectacular. It's a combo piece to something great in the future.
