Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of the Day
Daily Since 2002!

Mistaken Accusation
- #BOSH-EN068

If your opponent has more total cards in their hand and their side of the field than you do: Target 1 face-up card on the field; neither player can activate cards with that name, or their effects, for the rest of this Duel, except that target. You can only activate 1 "Mistaken Accusation" per turn.

Card Rating
Advanced: 2.17

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 is Horrible. 3 is Average. 5 is the highest rating.

Hello Pojo Fans,

The “Mistaken” Quick-Play theme continues with Mistaken Accusation.

Same mechanics as its predecessors, however this will stop all copies of one card from being activated in any way for the rest of the Duel. Your opponent having more total cards than you isn't a hard thing to have, but the major downside to this card is that it won't stop the card you target from activating an effect.

While this card will help against builds that use up to 3 of a certain card, you still have to deal with them getting off at least one activation of that certain card, even if you activate this card. Second, this card is good early on in the duel, as it will take away up to 2 cards your opponent can use. Late, this card isn't useful, and because it doesn't negate the effect(s) of the first card it targets, it is less playable than if it did negate.

It is playable because many builds run up to 3 copies of a certain card. It is playable because there's so much it can hit as long as the card it targets is face-up. However, it isn't consistent because it relies heavily on being drawn early in the game for maximum potential, and does not negate the first card it targets.

Card Art: Oooooooh, so this is where all the banned cards go. Lol, check out my girl Witch of the Black Forest. So chill.

So this is an interesting card; basically it nullifies all but one card for the remainder of the Duel, sort of like how Skill Drain turns all monsters vanilla, only this seems far more powerful. I'd be careful about this one, though. Not many players use vanilla cards nowadays, and the only type of deck I see that would truly benefit from it would be a Skill Drainage deck. Just remember when using this card: you're going to hinder your own strategies as well as your opponent's.

Score: 2/5 -Potential for a deck revolving around this card is there, just not strong.

I'll be honest, I don't fully understand this card. Mistaken Accusation is a Quickplay Spell that lets you stop effects if something is face-up on the field. You target it and then neither player can activate new ones of that target. I believe that if the target hits the grave, it can't activate its own Graveyard effects. I guess try to stop cards that are limited. Off the top of my head you could target Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, and then if it leaves the field, then that effect can't activate again for the rest of the duel. Or you could target a Pendulum Scale and when it hits the Extra Deck, it can't use its monster effect or other copies can't use their effects either.

Anyway, the condition of this card is that your opponent controls more cards on the field and in their hand than you do. If that condition is satisfied then you are already losing and this card won't save you. Anything you're targeting still gets its own effect.

Score: 2/5 I hope I got that right.

Art: 4/5 Why can't they just nerf the text to once per turn or duel and bring Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest back to the limited list?
