The name grows on you. It’s a far cry from a name as
awesome as Darth Vader, but I suppose it’s less
cumbersome and generic than Dark Witch or something
to that effect. Dark Lady is what bridged the theme
and issued notice of the end of Kozmo support. Not
only was she the highly anticipated Darth Vader card
that everyone knew was coming, but she was the
meeting in the middle of the two types of Kozmo
cards. She had the high attack and powerful effect
that could have made her one of the machines, but
she was a psychic that could bounce into something
In essence, she bridged the psychics and machines
and allowed for a three-step bounce, which I think
is the real reason she’s important in many top Kozmo
decks. She provided that option over downgrade
summons like Sliprider and Forerunner that could
allow for a future bounce into another biggie while
still providing real presence on the field that the
weaker psychics didn’t have. Yes, her effect is very
nice, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.
I’ve seen many Kozmo decks skip Dark Lady
altogether, but I think that’s a mistake in the long
run. Because she acts as that bridge, she’s really
the best option in a pinch, especially when Dark
Destroyer isn’t available. And speaking of Dark
Destroyer, there is no better monster to have that
makes the opponent work to get over, just to run
into DD later. Vader is a beast once more. And she’s
going to be key in the deck for a long time,
especially if Dark Destroyer bites the dust and gets
restricted or banned.
I was really hoping Kozmoll Dark Lady would sell as
high as Dark Destroyer did upon release. Oh well.
She is a Level 5 Dark Psychic-type monster with 2200
Atk and 1800 Def. Even without the awesome effects,
2200 Atk isn't bad. In its own deck, she is
stronger than Sliprider. I think all she needed was
some kind of destruction immunity for her to have
been as expensive as Dark Destroyer.
Kozmoll Dark Lady has the usual Pilot banish herself
to get a 6 or higher Level Kozmo monster Special
Summoned from the Hand. You can only use that effect
once per turn, but she is probably going to sit on
the field to attack or keep negating effects with
her second effect. Speaking of which, that second
effect costs 1000 Life Points to negate any other
monster's effect once per turn. If you have multiple
Dark Ladys on the Field, you can activate them each
if you can afford the cost. The monster is destroyed
with a nice non-targeting effect. If there are ever
Kozmo monsters splashed into other decks, this would
be one of them.
Kozmoll Dark Lady. So we have a stronger card
than yesterday. Level 5, and Dark, this time
with 2200 attack (albeit weak for a Monster of its
Level) and this cards first effect is similar to
yesterday, but works a bit differently. By
removing this card from play, you can Special Summon
a Level 6 or higher Kozmo Monster from your Hand.
For a second effect, when a Monster activates its
effect, you can pay 1000 Lifepoints to negate said
effect, and if you're successful, you destroy that
Monster. I like this, but realistically, only
have 2200 attack, it's probably just easier to
attack and destroy then waste a Monster effect and
risk it getting destroyed.
