 ABC-Dragon Buster
- #SDKS-EN041

"A-Assault Core" + "B-Buster Drake" + "C-Crush Wyvern" Must first be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards you control and/or from your Graveyard. (You do not use "Polymerization".) Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card on the field; banish it. During your opponent's turn: You can Tribute this card, then target 3 of your banished LIGHT Machine-Type Union monsters with different names; Special Summon them (this is a Quick Effect).

ABC-Dragon Buster

So now that Blue-Eyes White Dragon has had his time in the sun, another Kaiba archtype gets a tier 1 revival. Why does Yugi keep getting the shaft? ABC-Dragon Buster is bonkers and clearly resides in the pool of cards that were made with the obvious intent of being busted.

There’s no getting around how simple and effective ABC is. It’s absurd to even call this a fusion monster since it gets over the two humps that generally make fusions hard to succeed with: having to use Poly and sacrificing actual cards. I thought that was E-Hero’s deal, but Kaiba stole it, I guess. There’s really no use in reviewing this card other than saying that you run all 9 of the supporting pieces in the deck, along with 3 Union Hangar, and then you succeed. There’s no outlandish strategy, there’s very few variants, and the entire deck hinges on this one monster. Pass or Fail.

Now it’s for that reason ABC doesn’t have great future potential. This card is going to rule the format for a time, but once the deck is inevitably hit by the restricted list, ABC’s potential gets hit as well. Unlike other past boss monsters, ABC is the entire deck, and the deck strives for ABC. If this were restricted/banned, no one would run the deck. Why would you? And even if ABC were to stay at 3, if other key pieces of the deck like B-Buster Drake, Cyber Dragon Infinity and Union Hangar were to be hit, people would again stop running ABC decks altogether. Unlike El Shaddoll Construct, for example, which depleted Shaddoll, but didn’t kill the potential of the deck itself, as is clearly seen by the recent success of decks like Zodiac Beast Shaddoll. Unless Konami were to release AB, AC, and BC fusions, there’s no getting around how much the deck relies on ABC-Dragon Buster. It’s the entire deck and will soon be riding the pine and start collecting dust. And it might be in those binder for a very long time.

This card stinks. 3000 Atk isn't enough for a boss monster. Plus, Kaiba already has Blue-Eyes, why would he need this? Requiring three specific monsters on the field or in the grave is nearly impossible for decks. Targeting and then banishing any card on the field during either turn isn't worth the 1 discard cost. Why do Fusion archetypes have so much "tag out" potential? El Shaddoll Fusion, Gladiator Beasts, Ritual Beasts, and now this just keep coming up with ways to leave the field. This tag out requires 3 unique Light Machine-type Union Monsters in the banished zone to even accomplish the tag out. Why do we even review stuff like this? Whatever, ABC decks are trash, and their individual parts are childish. To top it all off, the deck is cheap. Remember when Monarchs were too cheap and effective? Look at them now. ABC-Dragon Buster will be lost to the trade binder in 3 months.

Seriously, Run 3 while you can. Have a nice weekend.

ABC Dragon Buster is superior to XYZ Dragon Cannon in every way. First, it's still an untraditional Fusion, brought out by removing the necessary pieces from the Field from play.  It has 3000 attack instead of 2800 and has two effects.  Instead of discarding to destroy a card like XYZ, you discard to target and remove a card on the Field from play.  Also during your opponent's turn, you can tribute this card to bring the pieces back.  Or any combination there of.  Simply awesome
