Abyss Actor - Leading Lady
- #DESO-EN021

Pendulum EffectOnce per turn, when you take battle damage from an opponent's attacking monster: You can activate 1 of these effects; ● That opponent's monster loses ATK equal to the damage you took (even if this card leaves the field). ● Add 1 face-up "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand with ATK less than or equal to the damage you took. Monster EffectOnce per turn, when battle damage is inflicted: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it loses ATK equal to that battle damage. When this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's Monster Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Set 1 "Abyss Script" Spell Card directly from your Deck.

Abyss Actor – Leading Lady

Yesterday’s card of the day was the true star of the show, but Abyss Actor – Leading Lady is no slouch. As some readers might know, Abyss Actors have crazy good harmony with Metalfoes (as a lot of other themes do.) Because Abyss Actors are pendulum monsters that revolve around getting effects when destroyed or protecting from destruction, there’s nothing not to like. The only hard problem that Abyss Actors faced was that scales of 8 or higher were hard to come by. And that was quickly solved, as well, with Metalfoes Steelen and Volflame.

So, the deck hybrid possesses excellent methods of pendulum summoning on a consistent basis while recycling only one Abyss Script, the mighty Rise of the Abyss King. Recycling a single copy of a spell card… it was almost as if the cards were tailor-made for Metalfoes. So what does Leading Lady contribute? Well, the short answer is she’s a target for Metalfoes destruction and a pretty decent Pendulum scale with an effect that’s okay at best. She’s not as crucial to the success of the archetype as Superstar or Wild Hope, but she’s a solid addition.

I’m not certain of Leading Lady’s long-term prospects. She doesn’t cycle Abyss Scripts like Superstar, and she doesn’t search the deck like Wild Hope and Sassy Rookie, so I get the feeling she’s 4th place and won’t ever be higher. But for the short-term, she’s a great add to a solid deck.

Hello Pojo Fans,

It's an Abyss week on CoTD, with Abyss Actor - Leading Lady taking center stage.

A choice of effects while being a pendulum card is something you don't normally see. Attack reduction that stacks if the monster stays on the field is good, especially if you take a direct attack. Searching is often preferred, and that's the second effect. Pull an Abyss Actor from the Extra Deck with ATK equal or less than the damage you took. The second effect won't be useful until you get at least one pendulum into the Extra Deck, but both effect are very handy.

As a monster, Leading Lady can reduce a monsters ATK by the amount of battle damage inflicted. It can be either player inflicting the battle damage, so it may save another monster or Leading Lady if she wasn't attacked first. When Leading Lady is destroyed she can leave an Abyss Script spell set on your field from the Deck. With four targets, you have your choice depending on the situation. Field clearing ability with Rise of the Abyss King, LP gain with Opening Ceremony, banishing from the opponents Extra Deck with Fire Dragon's Lair, or compluse ability with Fantasy Magic.

Mechanics wise, Leading Lady is amazing. For the archetype, she is needed in 3's. While she won't be used in most decks, that won't take away from her being a great card.
