Dark Maltos's Dueling Dome
The Phoenix Abuse

February 27, 2006

Hey guys it’s me again, this time with an article hot off the press’s, quite literally, cos this article I’m gonna be looking at a Phoenix/ Creator deck, one I think has major potential in today’s environment.

My last article received both applause and constructive criticism on both the forums, and in mail. Many duelists said I should drop the RotA for some cards like Xing Zhen Hu and Fairy box, two continuous traps I didn’t touch upon. They also mentioned cards like Card Destruction for trap dumping, as well as saying that 3 Uria was a bit OTT. I’d like to say that your advice was well revived and im also glad you thought the deck was good on the whole. I’d also like to put a special mention out to Kevin Linyu for all his ideas through mail.

Now , on with this very cool deck. First lets look back at the history of these awesome cards.

The Creator came to us way back in Rise of Destiny, and was quite a sought after card. With his revival powers and little ‘incarnate’ buddy to help him along, he was potentially a force to be reckoned with. His high defense and considerable attack set him apart from other high level monsters and put him into the quite rare high defense, lower attack monsters with the likes of Dark Necrofear and Guardian Sphinx. Unfortunately, the discard cost was what prevented this bulbous behemoth from seeing tournament play. He needed a deck built around him. His partner in crime however, was far more used.

Nephthys came out of Flaming Eternity, a pack which rewarded me constantly for buying it. The prize of the set ( besides the much sought after lightning vortex, which I have an ultimate rare 1st edition which im quite proud of…, ) was the phoenix. This monster is single - handily the most broken two tribute monster in advanced format. Its revival powers, and s/t destruction are unparralled in combination. To put it simply, this monster pees on Vampire lord from the height it reached with its flame wings. This monster, in my meta at least ( merry old England) is virtually invincible, being impervious to such cards as smashing ground or torrential tribute. Sakurtsu armour’s are laughed at by this awesome monster. The Phoenix has been used in many decks, most of all hybrids abusing the Phoenix’s revival with most of the time, Beast down. But as of now, all that’s going to change. I have concocted a sinister method of using both these powerhouses in conjunction , as with previously, a warrior toolbox, read on.

Both these monsters have something of a Nomi aura about them , with the creations of their low level counter pats - Creator Incarnate and Hand of Nephthys both allowing the tribute of themselves to summon these massive monsters from your hand, and in Hand’s case, from your deck too, with the addition of another monster.

The key in using these two monster successfully lies in two cards : Marauding Captain, and Reinforcements of the Army. By using RotA, you can either search our for Marauding Captain, OR the Creator Incarnate when necessary to summon the Creator. With Marauding Captain, you can perform the Phoenix combo in one turn. These cards have such synergy with each other its unreal.

Since this is a warrior tool box mix, the most powerful cards can be used in conjunction with these awesome cards for the first time.

Pot of Avarice could be used very well in this deck, returning all the monsters back to the deck for future use after they have been defeated. The Warrior Returning Alive allows for incarnate, as well as the other monsters to be used over again. I think Silent lv is a good tech, removing face down Tomatoes or other potential threats for Phoenix.

The deck is pretty self explanatory, using the raw power of the Creator and the Phoenix in conjunction with the versatility of the Warriors for effective combos. This is basically just another variation of the Warrior Toolbox, and therefore will be a powerful deck regardless.

Well, I hope you like it . I look forward to replying to your responses. Next, I shall be discussing my very own Dark Magician deck . Have a good one guys.
