Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
PSYCH dueling Part 2

4.11.05

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all!

Last week I brought you the first installment of what I called PSYCH Dueling.
Today, I bring you part two, what a beginner (not necessarily a n00b) duelist would use PSYCH. Also, at the end, I'll be addressing some of the frequent questions I'm asked, sort of how Pook did in his last article.

As you learned previously...

P stands for Psychology

A beginner may not be able to Psych their opponet as well as an experienced player can. However, we learn through experience. A beginner learns some psychological tactics from their more experienced opponent's. This can help inspire the lesser talented person to begin working on their own psychology.

S stands for Stalling

A beginner may not compete that much at official tournaments, but will definatley learn to utilize the stall technique once it is used against them.
Beginners may not make their moves as quickly as experienced players because they aren't as confident. As previously mentioned, this can cause them to move less-confidently as more slowly.

Y stands for Yourself

Here, a beginner may think he or she is on top of the world and that nothing is going to stop them on their way to the top. Losses can be very hard for beginners to accept thinking they built this "all powerful" deck and then to be crushed in their first official duel. This happens to us all, but we gain experience from our losses. This helps the beginner acquire experience which will in turn help develop their dueling skill.

C stands for Countering

Starting out, the beginner probably doesn't have all the necessary cards to counter such popular threats from today. Such as your Black Luster Soldier, your Warriors, Zombies, Chaos, or any mix in between. Having just started the game, it is important to do research about what decks and deck types run rampant in the current metagame. Never leap into a game or anything else without having done some back ground research.

H stands for Have Fun

This one is usually easiest for beginners because they are usually simply dueling to HAVE FUN. This is something that more experienced players sometimes forget to do. It doesn't hurt for a beginner to tell their opponent just to lighten up, regardless of if he or she is being slaughtered. Duels are supposed to be FUN win or lose. Don't forget that.

Now, as for some of my frequently asked questions or FAQ's...

Question: Can I send you my deck for an analysis/rating?

Answer: Yes, of course. I am happy to help with anything I can. Remember, my closing line is always feel free to e-mail me about ANYTHING, and I think decks qualify under anything, don't they?

Question: How do I become a Featured Writer/COtD person?

Answer: Pook addressed this one, but I'm going to as well. It's probably the most commonly asked question here. These things aren't up to anyone but Pojo himself aka he who runs the site. We writers/COtD staff people have NO say, NONE whatsoever in who does what around here.

Question: What is your favorite card?

Answer: As my name implies, that'd be Dark Paladin, but I love all Spellcaster cards in general, as you all should be well aware of by now.

Question: Do you think the government will ever make an official Yugioh dueling day that's a Federal Holiday? Schools and work are closed and everyone just sits and duels?

Answer: I've only been asked this once, and it was by a nice man who suggested I do this after reading Pook's FAQ article. Since this is for him, I had to include this question. That'll probably never happen, but we can dream, right?

Well, that does it for today, and next week look for the final installment of PSYCH Dueling, PSYCH Dueling Part III!

Until next time, feel free to contact me with anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
