School's Back in Session:
Today's Lesson, Under Rated Cards

9.01.05

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all!

Today I come to you to give you some information on a few cards I believe to be underrated. I'm going to try to do this more often, as I feel it is important to expose some ignored cards in an attempt for people to perhaps start using them.

I will look at five trap cards today, so, now that you know what I'm doing, I hope you understand the title of my article.

Finally, speaking of school, I am back at college, my siblings are back at high/junior high school, and I imagine most people nation wide are back as well.

Underrated Trap #1

Reckless Greed

Reckless Greed is an interesting trap card, and one I've never EVER seen used in a duel before. That's quite an interesting fact since Reckless Greed is a restricted card. The effect is simple: Draw 2 cards, than skip your next two draw phases. Having to skip two draw phases can be a hefty price, but think about it: you have just drawn the two cards from the two draw phases you're skipping. I believe this card not to be terrible, just as I said, ignored because of the cost.

Underrated Trap #2

Drop Off

Drop Off is one of my favorite traps ever, and it is also very simple.
You activate it when they draw and the card that was just drawn is sent to the graveyard. This card saw a bit of play in my area when released in LOD, and I personally side-deck one. It's a very nice hand disruption card, even if you don't send anything particularly important to the graveyard. Your opponent more than likely won't see this coming.

Underrated Trap #3

Trap Jammer

Trap Jammer is a very welcome addition to a side-deck also. It stops Mirror Force, Magic Cylinder, Sakeretsu Armor, and CAN stop Ring of Destruction (if used in the Battle Phase). This card is very specific as for timing, but it can be quite a help, and another surprise.

Underrated Trap #4

Divine Wrath

I really don't see why Divine Wrath doesn't see more play. I side-deck one as well and I believe this to be quite a powerful trap. Despite having a one card discard cost, it negates the activation and effect of an effect monster AND it will destroy the said monster. Effects are everything in this game, so Divine Wrath stops them.

Underrated Trap #5

Solemn Judgment

As I've said before, this is my FAVORITE trap card in the entire game of Yugioh, just ahead of Mirror Force. This card can negate essentially anything, including the summoning of Black Luster Soldier--Envoy of the Beginning (or CED for that matter). Solemn Judgment can destroy a monster, magic, or trap card at the cost of half of your lifepoints. As with some of the other cards I've talked abou today, the cost tends to outweigh the pro. Half your lifepoints CAN be a lot, but you'll see this card can actually be very helpful.

Well, that's it for today, class dismissed :) Just kididng.

I hope you liked this article, and if you need anything, please feel free to contact me @ tsearcy@lssu.edu.

Now, things to look forward to in future articles:

*More articles about underrated cards
*The set review for Pharonic Guardian
*Set reviews for the rest of the sets
*Whatever else I feel like doing

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
