Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
I am a Featured Writer?
11.15.07

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! As seems to be usual, I am at a slack on my writing, which isn't good. I must apologize, but I've got something good for you today. I'm going to give you an in-depth analysis of the new Gladiator Beast monsters from Gladiator's Assault.

Gladial-Beast--Alexander

Light-Beast

Level 6

2400 atk 600 def

This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Gladial-Beast--Dichaeri." When this card is successfully Special Summoned, while this card is face-up on your side of the Field, it is unaffected by the effects of Magic cards. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field to the deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 1 "Gladial-Beast" monster other than "Gladial-Beast--Alexander" from your Deck to the Field.

Alexander is a bit hard to summon, as he can only be Special Summoned by the effect of another Beast...not any other beast as seems usual for the others. On the plus side, Alexander is on the Field, he's unaffected by Magic card, which is good. Also, at the end of a Battle, he can return to the Deck, and replace himself with another fellow beast.

Super Rare

Gladial-Beast--Spartychus

Earth-Dinosaur

Level 5

2200 atk 1600 def

This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Gladial-Beast--Hoplomus." When this card is Special Summoned, add 1 "Armaments" Magic card from yoru Deck to your Hand. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field to the Deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 1 "Gladial-Beast) monster from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Spartychus."

Like Alexander, Spartychus can only be summoned by a certain relative, Hoplomus, in this case. It allows you to add an Armaments card to your Hand when Special Summoned. Armaments allows the equipped monster to destroy a Magic or Trap card when the monster attacks, at the End of the Damage Step.

Rare

Gladial-Beast--Murmillo

Water-Fish

Level 3

800 atk 400 def

When this card is Special summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast"

monster, destroy 1 face-up monster on the Field. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field to the Deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special summon 1 "Gladial-Beast" monster from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Murmillo."

Murmillo is another good Gladial monster, as he is able to destroy a monster on the Field, as long as it's face up, when Special Summoned through it's effect.

Common

Gladial-Beast--Bestorourii

Wind-Winged-Beast

Level 4

1500 atk 800 def

When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast"

monster, destroy 1 Magic or Trap card on the Field. If this card battles, by returing it from the Field to the Deck at the End of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 1 "Gladial-Beast" monster from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Bestorourii."

Bestorourii does the opposite of his Water friend, by instead of destroying a monster upon his effect Special Summon, he is able to destroy a Magic or Trap card on the Field. Another good choice.

Rare

Gladial-Beast--Laquer

Fire-Beast-Warrior

Level 4

1800 atk 400 def

When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast"

effect monster, the original ATK of this card becomes 2100. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field ot the Deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 1 "Gladial-Beast" monster from your Deck to your Field, except "Gladial-Beast--Laquer."

Laquer is the Cyber Dragon of the Gladial Beasts, so to speak. When Special Summoned by it's effect, it's attack goes up to 2100, and it has a respectable attack of 1800 if summoned on its own.

Common

Gladial-Beast--Hoplomus

Earth-Rock

Level 4

700 atk 2100 def

When this card is Special summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast"

monster, the original DEF of this card becomes 2400. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field to the Deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 1 "Gladial-Beast" monster from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Hoplomus."

Hoplomus seems to be a fairly useless monster in the Gladial family, as it only has its defense boosted to 2400, but that's enough to hold off a Monarch, Jinzo, or Sacred Phoenix, assuming you can get this guy into defense postion.

Common

Gladial-Beast--Dichaeri

Earth-Beast

Level 4

1600 atk 1200 def

When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast"

monster, it can attack twice during the same Battle Phase. If this card battles, by returning it from the Field to the Deck at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon one "Gladial-Beast" monster from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Dichaeri."

Here, we have Dichaeri, the Asura Priest of the Gladial Beasts, again, so to speak. Just a tad bit lower than Asura with 1600 attack points, but a double attacker is a good thing to have on your Field.

Rare

Gladial-Beast--Secutor

Wind-Reptile

Level 4

400 atk 200 def

When this card is successfully Special Summoned by the effect of a "Gladial-Beast" monster, if this card battles, at the end of the Battle Phase, Special Summon 2 "Gladial-Beast" monsters from your Deck, except "Gladial-Beast--Secutor."

Secutor is a scrawny little monster, who probably isn't going to take out anything...ever...well, maybe a Magician of Faith or Treeborn Frog?

Anyway, instead of summoning ONE Gladial Beast, he allows you to Summon TWO for a +1.

Well, that does it for today, and I hope you enjoyed it! I'll try to be a bit more regular thorought the next while, as I have Thanksgiving Break this week, and Christmas in a couple more. As always, if you need anything, feel free to e-mail me @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
