Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
We Will Adapt
04.24.07

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! Today, I'm here in a sort of compare and contrast factor. As you are aware, the Ban List was updated just a short time ago. This means things are banned, restricted, semi-restricted, or even taken off the list.

How does this effect you? Well, if you use or used any of these cards, you need to find a new card or cards to use to fill the void or voids left in your deck.

Cyber Stein was banned, but this was before the actual list came out?

Is there a replacement for Cyber Stein? Perhpas...remember this card?

Summoner of Illusions

Level 3

Light-Spellcaster

800 attack 900 defense

FLIP: Offer on your side of the field as a Tribute (excluding this monster). Special Summon 1 Fusion Monster Card from your fusion Deck.

The Fusion Monster is destroyed at the end of the turn this card is activated.

Of course, this isn't Cyber Stein, but it could be a temporary solution. You can summon any Fusion Monster from your Fusion deck by tributing a monster othan than Summoner of Illusions. The Fusion Monster is destroyed, however, at the End of the Turn this effect is activated.

Breaker the Magical Warrior was banned, and also has a weaker slightly different counterpart that you may consider using. Do you remember...

Chiron the Mage

Level 4

Earth-Beast Warrior

1800 attack 1000 defense

Discard 1 Spell Card from your hand. Destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field. This effect can only be used once per turn.

Instead of receiving a Magic Counter, you have to discard a specific type of card, a Magic card, which then essentially becomes a Mystical Space Typhoon as you can destroy one Magic or Trap card on the Field.

Chrion stays at 1800 attack instead of lowering to 1600.

Cards sometimes, however, have no replacements...ie Magician of Faith and Graceful Charity. We still have Pot of Avarice, and we're given Card Trader, but there aren't many solid draw options in the current Advanced Format.

The closest thing to Magician of Faith is Dark Magician of Chaos for Magic retrieval, but he is a two tribute monster, so not the best option in the world either. I'm just trying to say to be creative here, try new cards to fill in the wholes that may be in your deck.

You won't know if something works until you try it and see. Trial and error is a very important part of Yugioh. You don't just take cards and assemble a "deck" and win. (Usually and hopefully not, that would be frightening.) You need to test cards, combos, and strategies to become a powerful and skilled duelist.

Each Ban List changes the game, by adding or removing cards we are or are not allowed to use. It can be one of the most exciting aspects of Yugioh, but also the most dangerous depending on the changes made.

Well, that does it for today, and I hope you enjoyed it! Please, as always, feel free to contact me with anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
