Reverse the Limit
May 20, 2008

What's So "Limiting" About Limit Reverse?

Well aside from the limit in the level of ATK that you can get back, nothing. This special little trap card is probably the best common to come out of a set since Snipe Hunter debuted in Cyberdark Impact. You basically Call of the Haunted to get back any monster with 1000 ATK or less. Well, can YOU think of monsters in that ATK range you would like to revive? Here's a list in case you can't think right now:

Destiny Hero Disc Commander
Lonefire Blossom
Exiled Force
Sangan
Destiny Hero Fear Monger
Destiny Hero Malicious
Card Trooper
Yubel
Plague Wolf

And there are many more that even I can't think of right now. There WILL be decks running it in the future, as chaining a Limit Reverse to Mystical Space Typhoon targeting Disc Commander is a +2 play, meaning you gain two cards and your opponent gains nothing in the exchange. Now imagine you have Card of Safe Return on the field. Ooh, the possibilities are amazing with this card.

Did I mention that Limit Reverse also has a built in destruction effect? If the monster switches to Defense, it dies. WOW. Yubel's new best friend just moved in. With Yubel in the grave, all you have to do is play this and then switch it to DEF, to destroy it an get the deck rolling. Sangan and Card Trooper both benefit from this as well.

I would imagine that a DARK deck utilizing this card will be the most popular, but Plant decks, Warrior decks, Yubel decks and even Zombies to a certain extent can all use it well. Here is an experimental list which will show you all what I think Limit Reverse will earn it's infamy with in the next couple of weeks.

From the Depths of Darkness, I Summon You!

Monsters-19

3x Dark Armed Dragon
1x Dark Magician of Chaos
1x Jinzo
1x Destiny Hero Dasher

2x Destiny Hero Malicious

1x Destiny Hero Disc Commander
1x Elemental Hero Stratos
1x Card Trooper
1x Spirit Reaper
1x Dark Grepher
1x Armageddon Knight
1x Sangan

Spells-14

3x Destiny Draw
2x Allure of Darkness
2x Reinforcements of the Army
1x Premature Burial
1x Monster Reborn

1x Brain Control
1x Lightning Vortex
1x Enemy Controller

Traps-8

3x Limit Reverse

1x Torrential Tribute
1x Mind Crush
1x Trap Dustshoot
1x Crush Card Virus

Draw 5, Draw. I Win.

Yeah, this deck does that. The standard opening play for a DAD deck is to play Reinforcements of the Army, Fetch Stratos, Summon Stratos, search Malicious or Disc Commander, and then play one of 5 draw spells to get through the deck as quickly as possible. Well, the ideal play for this deck is to Play Reinforcements, Search Armageddon Knight, Summon KNight, Dump Disc, Set Reverse and Crush and then dominate from there. Then you can even use Mask of Darkness to get Crush, Trap Dustshoot or Mind Crush Back and then proceed to dominate.

The deck is also almost exclusively DARK, so it is very easy to get your 3 Darks in the grave to bring your DAD cards to the field. They will also work well with the now semi-limited Allure of Darkness. As for Limit Reverse, there are a whopping 9 monsters that it can revive, with 3 of them getting their effects regardless of what happens to the Reverse (unless it is negated).

The trap heavy lineup will make your deck more vulnerable to Jinzo than the average DAD deck, but that is only one card out of a 40 card deck for your opponent (if they too, are playing DAD). I am also not playing the revival from removed cards like Return and DDR-Different Dimension Reincarnation, simply because I ran out of room. I felt that Enemy Controller could better make use of the benefits of Limit Reverse and it's benefits than a solo copy of Return, or even a pair of DDR.

As always, this was what I came up with on my own, so change it up a bit! If you want to play Creature Swap, go ahead! If DDR is your miracle card, more power to yah! A deck is never complete unless it's owner tweaks it to his/her style. A netdeck is all well and good, but useless unless it fits you as a player.

Well that was my take on a Limit Reverse DAD deck. I will have my create-a-card contest results up any day now, but I keep on pushing it back due to school, and I feel that these topics are far more important to the dueling community as a whole.

If you wanna reach me, do so at raptor1k@hotmail.com. I gladly take criticism ideas and decks, just make sure to put YUGIOH in your subject heading, as otherwise I WILL ignore it, as I get a TON of Spam.

Thanx for Reading!
