Banlist Mania September 2013
By GeneralZorpa
August 14, 2013

Its the most wonderful time of the year! Everyone is an expert on thee game and what is best for it and everyone posts as many fake lists as they can on the message boards to get their 15 seconds of infamy. I can hear the curses now!

Now sometimes I do pretend to know more about the game than I do actually know. My readers end up keeping me honest. As it stands, I have been really far off on predicting banlists. Apparently I am just not on the same page as Konami. Anywho, I wouldn't be much of a featured writer is I didn't come up with a few predictions based upon recent release information as well as player complaints.

So here are a few thoughts on what could/should happen for the newest banlist coming in September.

1. Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaighty
-------Moved to the limited list

In my own opinion this is a card that should never have been banned. With it Wind-Ups were barely hanging on to the tournament scene, without it we haven't seen one at a big event in months. This not only reduces the banned part of the list, it gives another deck the breath of life.

2. Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
-------Moved to limited list

It seems as if Konami is fighting tooth and nail to keep Synchro monsters relevant with the Fire Fists and Mecha Phantom Beasts getting random Synchros. Why not boost their popularity with releasing the best of them? It is time for this card to have a reprint anyway.

3. Ultimate Offering
-------Moved to the restricted list

Having played with this card for a few weeks, Ihave to say that it is broken as hell. Gadgets win the game if you don't stop it and Constellars and Evilswarm go crazy with it. It is just one of those cards that breaks the rules too much. Maybe an errata to once per turn would work, but Konami is generally not in favor with errata.

4. Atlantean Dragoons
-------Moved to limited list

We all had to see this coming. With too many of this card we just see a ridiculous amount of card and field advantage being gained by Mermail decks. Destroying cards is fine, but searching and searching is generally not good when it is just so darn easy. This card allows Mermail players to play 45 cards in their deck, that says something of its power.

4. Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks, Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets, Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles, Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts
-------Moved to limited list

Again no real surprise here. The Dragon Ruler deck has taken the tournament scene by storm, and the last time a deck took over this completely the banhammer swung HARD. We ca t do anything to the big Dragons as they are very helpful in other decks and they are getting reprinted in the tins, so the Baby Rulers are getting squashed to slow and declaw Dragons a little bit.

5. Spellbook of Judgment
-------Move to limited list

I mean can you really blame them? This card catapaulted the deck to tier 1 status and is just too darn ridiculous if you can reliably get it early on (which Propchecy can). A +5 play from one card is too good to keep in the game at any significant numbers. I would say Quick Booster will replace it, allowing people to reuse it many times.

6. Gladiator Beast Bestiari
-------Unlimited

When was the last time tou saw Gladiators as a viable deck? This is one of those reasons that the deck isn't played anymore. A lucky Bottomless Trap Hole and suddenly your deck has no teeth. Gladiators need clear lines of attack to work, and Bestiari gets them there, again reviving an older deck for diversity and helping retailers with older booster sales.

7. The Agent of Mystery- Earth
-------Unlimited

This card makes the Agent deck worth playing, makes it more consistent. The deck needs any help it can get, as simply making a Gachi Gachi Gantetsu is not enough anymore. Searching out combo pieces and giving the deck access to Synchros in one card sounds awesome to me.

Now I am sure that Konami will make more changes, and probably different ones than I predict. But this is what I see as the best solution to keep everyone involved in the game as happy as possible.

If you have any questions, ideas, conncerns, deck fixes or comments, please email me at alarbios@live.com and put YGO in the title to get past my spam filter. I love to hear from you guys!

Thanx for Reading!
