Berserk Control Winged Smackdown
April 17, 2006

The following week is entitled,

"So Dumb it has to Work"

These decks are crazy, random, etc.  But they have some cool potential.

The first one up for review is a deck concept created by one of Team Necrosis craziest kids.  Ka-Hun Yu, I absolutely love this kid.  He is like a factory, throwing out ideas and then manipulating them into something golden.  You may be familiar with his Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon Deck which I fixed some time back.  Today we focus on his Berserk Dragon/Winged Kuriboh Lv. 10 deck.  Lets look.......................

3|Gx1|Winged Kuriboh
2|Crv|Winged Kuriboh LV10
2|Crv|Transcendent Wings
2|Dcr|Berserk Dragon
2|Dcr|A Deal with Dark Ruler
1|Mrd|Heavy Storm
2|Sd2|Dust Tornado
1|Sye|Mystical Space Typhoon
2|Sdp|Magic Jammer
1|Sdp|Graceful Charity
1|Fet|Lightning Vortex
3|Sod|Dark Mimic LV3
2|Rds|Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive
2|Sod|Dark Mimic LV1
3|Mrd|The Unhappy Maiden
2|Mfc|Roulette Barrel
3|Dp2|Magical Mallet
1|Een|Pot of Avarice
1|Mrd|Mirror Force
3|Sdp|Waboku
2|Dcr|Sakuretsu Armor

this deck manipulates Winged Kuriboh Lv. 10 as a means of ensuring Berserk Dragon hits the field.  A cool and very strange idea.  But the only thing I dislike about this deck is the use of cards like Magical Mallet, Magic Jammer, Dust Tornado, Lightning Vortex, etc. make no sense to me.  Vortex makes no sense because we are trying to build hand advantage to use transcended wings to bring a monster to the field whose effect kills monster threats.  Dust Tornado and magic jammer make no sense because I fail to see what we are protecting that My Body as a Shield couldn't do better.  Heavy Storm even looks like a potential drop because my final draft does not need it.  Plus we have flip flop monsters who are going to be inferior to Des Lacooda.

Magical Mallet is cool tech in Exodia Decks and such, but exactly what combo are we looking to get.  As mentioned on the cotd reviews, 3 card combos win games.  Winged Kuriboh Lv. 10 and Berserk Dragon take some

1) Transcended Wings
2) 2x Discard Cost
3) Winged Kuriboh
4) Winged Kuriboh Lv. 10
5) A Deal With Dark Ruler
6) Berserk Dragon

7 cards..............................7 cards

Why search for these combos???

I have been working on an Exodia Deck using this Build as an outline.  The basic principle here is to stall and stall.  By stalling so much your opponent eventually locks themselves down by summoning 5 monsters and setting 5 spell/traps.  This deck has so many ways to draw out heavy storm it isn't funny.  On top of that it has numerous cards that negate the battle phase and damage associated with the battle phase.  This in turn allowing you set up your field through countless free draws from Des lacooda and on top of that Shining Angel Gets you Winged Kuriboh and The Unhappy Maiden which Pot of Avarice gives another annoying run too.  But almost every draw you have stops and attack.

Actually, it is one of the funnest (is that a word yet???) decks I have ever played.  It is weak against Burn (go figure) and a Jinzo/Royal Decree hurts your fun.  But Double-Snare, Swarm of Locus/Scarabs, Solemn Judgement, etc. in the Side Deck will help you out.

On top of that, this build is one of the most annoying decks your opponent will ever face.  Then to summon a Winged Kuriboh and hit their full field of monsters really makes you glad you set back and waited to hit them instead of searching for the combo.

A deck of negative ones plus.  Ohh the Joy of Winning in such a fashion

Play it and let me know what you think.  This kind of a deck is so Dumb it has to Work:P

Hope you all had a great Easter
