From Hell
November 27, 2007

David L. Williams is the president of the Kentucky senate, he is trying to pass legislature concerning the rights of unborn children from mothers with substance abuse problems. Basically he wants the state to have the right to hold mothers in jail until their child is born to prevent them from indulging in any activities that might harm the child in its future development. Current research utilizing mice has confirmed that smoking cigarettes while pregnant, after pregnancy, etc. around female offspring has the ability to decrease the fertility of that child. I wonder if such legislature is passed if all smoking women will be detained from their children to prevent developmental problems. Let us stretch this argument to encompass other forms of environmental causes of precancerous and cancerous tissue. I wonder if such legislature could argue in the detention of mothers who drive in polluted areas, eat fast food, etc. while pregnant or with small child. Basically I do not understand how such legislature can lead to any good. First off it is giving some form of government a little bit more control over the lives of its citizens. Secondly it contradicts the various forms of capitalistic endeavor. This statement meaning that pollution has been one of the consequences of business and considering how unregulated in comparison to what is plausible concerning the pollution output of various companies, how in the world does Kentucky expect to manage the birth rights of its women in a constitutional manner. Thirdly this idea should lead to the banning of cigarettes and alcohol and we all know that is not going to happen due to the huge revenues they develop. Fourthly, how can we allow the debate of such ideology when we live in a society of legalized abortion and contradicting views concerning global warming? Such talk will be used to argue the banning of abortion. We all should know by now that despite our best efforts and personal views, that will not happen as a result of losing a societal divider as well as personal freedom. Now I ask you what all this has to due with Yu-Gi-Oh?

Anyone have an idea? Simply it is an application of debate and the logic required when making decisions. For Yu-Gi-Oh much like everything else in life is currently full of turmoil, hope, ideology, and ignorance.

As this format continues it should become more and more evident that aggression is the key to winning. Crystal Seer is an example of a card whose hype was the result of an old format. Currently slow decks, flip flop, etc. can't match the power and speed of Zombies or PCM. Explosiveness is the key to winning. For some reason players still ignore the use of D.D. Assailant, D.D. Warrior Lady, and Bottomless Trap Hole. The remove from game mechanic is being ignored (I assume the new secret rare from Gladiators Assault may force opinion in a different way?) Nonetheless, we are playing in a format of horrendous brutality. Yet I truly believe any deck can and will succeed if played correctly. Light and Darkness Dragon will begin to pop from the comics into our local events, Destiny Hero-Disc Commander and Foolish Burial will provide draw loop after draw loop. We are living in a truly exciting time and in the next following weeks expect to see the best of the best to dominate. I personally believe Decoy Dragon, Trade-In, Dragons Mirror, Common Charity, Triple BEWD and triple Tri-Horn Dragon will see top 8 play. Trade-In is not only cheaper but better than Destiny Draw and Rare Value. It allows us to dump a big monster into the graveyard to hit with it via Return from the Different Dimension or Dimension Fusion. Trade-In would improve my triple Sacred Phoenix of Nepthys deck I am about to present.

Trade-In allows Dinosaur Players another way to end the game quicker.
If Fossil Evacuation was not reason enough to run some 3000-3300 beaters, maybe a draw card is. Foolish Burial allows for us not only to search our decks for Treeborn Frog and Green Baboon, but for any monster. Book of Life, Premature Burial, Call of the Haunted and Bazoo are all back on top. Hell a Foolish Burial into a BEWD or three makes Decoy Dragon a dominating field presence as well as Dragons Mirror a more consistent game winning option. Anyone else thinking about Exodia right now? With three Jar of Greed, three Legacy of Yata, and three Foolish Burial currently legal think of the possibilities. We truly are living in a time of craziness, debate, and ignorance.

Despite my great joy of this game and all the potential out there I have been removed from Yu-Gi-Oh for sometime. Totally ignoring the school, financial, girlfriend, etc. reasons I believe it is the result of not having anyplace to play. I have recently been kicked out of a local tournament due to winning to often. Yes you read that correctly, winning is bad for business. Thus I have had no place to play within a reasonable distance and I am really getting the itch to play. As you can see from my previous paragraphs, I have all kinds of ideas and no way to currently test them. Thus I'd appreciate people taking some of my above ideas and doing something with them. Try them out, test them, love them.

With all this said I present to you the last deck I have played.
Ironically getting second place while being removed from the local tournament scene for winning to often, losing too an unexpected Green Baboon drop in the finals. It much like the others in the history of my contributions should present proof to my readers that any theme or idea has potential if provided some chance to shine.

As stated many times throughout my rants, articles, etc. in order for a deck to be successful it must expand off of the ideas of what is or is not currently working. Much as evolution shapes animals to conform to their environments, decks must build off working ideas to be successful. I admit that the last time I touched a Yu-Gi-Oh deck was a few days after my last article submission, thus it has been a while. But I can promise that this principle will always hold true.
Draw power, speed, and the ability to shift momentum are the three principles that will always dominate in this game.

This deck caught so many off guard due to the mentality that phoenix is an ok card. The fact players are not running the D.D. monsters, Bottomless Trap Hole, etc. only means she is better. Book of Life caused some inconvenience but a first turn Hand of Nepthys with a Brain Control or Soul Exchange quickly made up for the inconvenience.
Most players honestly did not expect to see three phoenix in a deck.
I won multiple games with three phoenix and a Treeborn Frog hitting the field all at the same time. Nothing shows your dominance over the game like three monsters with recursion for 7200 points of damage.
Hell sometimes I'd throw the frog into the mix and hit for another 100 points of damage:P

Lightning Vortex, Snipe Hunter, Card Trooper, etc. guarantee phoenix will not be dead in my hand and/or hit the graveyard for a recursion card. The side deck allowed me to prepare against burn, samurai, Crystal Beast, while also providing the opportunity to switch it up into a more traditional monarch build.

All in all I think the phoenix is an underrated card not given enough of a chance by current players. She literally erupts from hell bringing a fiery vengeance. Clearing the back row and allowing quick over extensions. Soul Exchange and Brain Control allow her to hit the field more consistent, due to how easy Hand of Nepthys is located from the deck. Just like any other idea, all it takes to succeed is a will to find a way.

Currently I am looking for a lot of trades. I need to get a play set of secret rare Light and Darkness Dragon (currently have one). I'd like to get some extra Tri-Horn Dragons, Common Charities, Gladiator Beast support (etc.) I'd like to get extras of the new cards from the new Dragon structure deck (Trade-In, Decoy Dragon, Malevolent Catastrophe, etc.) As always I am interested in play mats of any kind (Crystal Beast and Rainbow Dragon being my current big wants). Holo hobby league cards, the new PSP, PS2, and Nintendo DS promo cards, Gellunduo, Gladiator's Assault secret rares, new samurai support, etc.

Please do not hesitate in trying to contact me for a trade or help. I enjoy answering questions and feel pride in the fact so many readers admire my opinion. I really want you all to go out and try some of the things I've talked about in this article. I want to get crazy deck lists and I want to know your opinions on the format. As always, I can be contacted at...

Just in case my next article isn't in time for Christmas, I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season.
