DUELISTS TO MEET IN LIMA, PERU FOR ELITE Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES EVENT MARCH 31ST – APRIL 1ST 

Younger Players Can Compete in Dragon Duel

El Segundo, CA (March 23, 2012) – Hundreds of Duelists representing countries from South America and beyond are readying their Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Decks and packing their suitcases as they prepare for the 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Lima, Peru. Competitive Duelists and aspiring champions are to compete at the YCS Lima, Peru between March 31st – April 1st at the premier-level Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event from Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami).

The main event will pit Duelists in a series of intense head-to-head competitions over the course of two days. The First Rounds on Saturday will give players an opportunity to demonstrate their tried and true game strategies; each one hoping that they’ve found the perfect combination to get them to the Final Round on Sunday and the opportunity to Duel for the title of YCS Lima Champion.

Duelists will definitely want to pre-register for the YCS Lima Main Event from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30th as those players upon pre-registering and submitting a Deck list will receive an event exclusive YCS Token Card! Regular registration will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31st.  Upon registering, all Duelists will receive three Order of Chaos booster packs for participating in Konami’s YCS Lima.  Round One will start at 10:00 a.m. and the Top 16 or 32 YCS finishers (depending on attendance) will earn invitations to participate in the 2012 World Championship Qualifier – Continental, of their region.

In addition, Konami will once again hold a Dragon Duel for the younger set (for Duelists born 1999 or later).  The top four finishers in the Dragon Duel events will receive a special Dragon Duel Champion’s Medal, a 2012 Regional Game Mat, a Card Binder, and an invitation to their regions’ 2012 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier – Continental, where they can earn an invitation to the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship to be played at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship this summer.

Duelists can also participate in a wide variety of fun and challenging Public Events to push their Dueling skills to the limit! Accompanying the Main Event, Konami will be conducting a full range of Public Events such as Regional Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Classic Drafts, Dawn of the Xyz Starter Tournaments,  Pegasus Challenges, Retro Drafts and Win-A-Mats. 

At YCS Lima, Konami will also host new single-elimination Sealed Deck Tournaments!  This new tournament format, the perfect solution for those who don’t have a Deck handy, will feature the recently released Dragons Collide Structure Deck and each Sealed Deck Tournament winner will get an exclusive Dragons Collide Structure Deck Game Mat! For a S/.40 entry fee, each player will receive a sealed Dragons Collide Structure Deck and is required to use those cards in the box as their Deck for that event.  These Sealed Deck Tournaments are sure to draw many participants and spectators!

 

The Main Event winner, the two runners-up and the winners of Sunday’s two Public Event playoffs will each be awarded a YCS prize card.  The Main Event winner will take home an Ultra Rare version of the Blood Mefist prize card, with the other winners bringing home Super Rare versions.

Prizing Information:

1st place – Ultra Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card; Trophy; Paid travel to their World Championship Qualifier (if underage, then winner and guardian) or a local-market YCS (flight and accommodations) if the Duelist has already won an earlier YCS in the current year; YCS Top Cut Game Mat; 250GB gaming console; and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier tournament

 

2nd place – Super Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card; 32 GB Tablet PC with redemption codes for Konami Mobile games; YCS Top Cut Game Mat; and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier

 

3rd place – Super Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card; 32 GB Touch Screen MP3 Player with redemption codes for Konami Mobile games; YCS Top Cut Game Mat; and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier

 

4th place – 32GB touch-screen MP3 Player; Konami game codes to be used on the touch-screen MP3 player; YCS Top Cut Game Mat; and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier

 

5th – 8th place – Video game console with Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011 Over the Nexus; YCS Top Cut Game Mat and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier

 

9th – 16th place – 24 booster packs of Order of Chaos; YCS Top Cut Game Mat; and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier

 

If attendance exceeds 513 Duelists:

17th – 32nd place – YCS Top Cut Game Mat and an invite to their 2012 World Championship Qualifier
