Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Relinquished

Card Number - MRL-029

Average Rating =  based on 7 reviews

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Date Reviewed - October 4, 2002

wartortle32 Friday - Relinquished

Today's COTD is Relinquished.  This is a very hard
card to understand and it doesnt help much that
Upperdeck put the font on this thing at -50.  In
short, you can absorb 1 monster per turn and can have
only 1 monster absorbed by Relinquished at a time.
When you attack a Relinquished that has absorbed your
monster, you both take the damage, but the
Relinquished is not destroyed.

Personally, I dont think this card is worth it to try
and summon.  It is too easily destroyed with magic or
trap cards.  Plus, it isn't all that easy to find the
relinquished and the ritual to summon it.

On the plus side, it is rather easy to summon it with
the help of sonic bird or senju.  And the 1 level
requirement of sacrificing monsters makes it really
easy to summon.

I give this card a 2.7/5.  I just dont think it is
worth it to go through all the trouble of using this
monster when it can be so easily killed.

I like this card....a LOT!

Yeah yeah, he's subject to being killed about a billion different ways, but so is everything else.  Try to drop him mid-game and protect him as best as possible.  Being able to use your opponent's army to beat them down is ridiculous.  I feel this guy has a really good deck he goes in, and you play him there.  The ritual part is annoying, but just fine for what you get.

Some Guy Friday - Relinquished

*Sorry guys, extra short CotD today. I have a Biology project that's due. Bear with me!*

Back on subject...

Man, that's alot of text. You have to read it a good ten times just to get used to it. Anyway, it's a cool card and can be fairly competetive if used right.

Being able to have a constant flow of removal is what makes it very nice. If you manage to play it and be able to maintain it, it will be a tough job for your opponent to deal with. The problem with the card is that it can be Fissure-d and Tribute to the Doom-ed just like any other monster. Solemn Judgment and Magic Jammer will be helpful to any Relinquished based deck.

Rating: 2.5/5

Personally, I wouldn't take it to a tournament.

Yonex Relinquished -- Friday

Introduction: Oh you have a Blue Eyes, thank you, it's mine now.

Dark [Spellcaster/Ritual/Effect]
Lv 1
0/0
This monster can take on the ATK and DEF of 1 opponent's monster on the
field (a face-down monster results in an ATK and DEF of 0). Treat the
selected monster as an Equip Magic Card and use it to equip "Relinquished."
You may use this effect only once per turn and can equip Relinquished with
only 1 monster at a time. When your opponent's monster attacks this monster
with an ATK higher than Relinquished, the equipped monster is destroyed
instead of Relinquished.  Any Life Point damage you recieve from the
attacking monster while Relinquished is equipped is also inflicted on your
opponent.

Why should you use it?
*Absorbs monster
*Could easily change the tide
*Combo with this card is ownage

Why shouldn't you use it?
*Horrible stats
*Waste of space
*Easily countered

Reasons: Friday, end of the week, out of school. Yeah! Finally! Well today
is a fun pick. This could also be a useful pick. The infamous Relinquished.
This card can suck up your opponent monster, and like the show, make them
take damage for attacking their own monster. This could easily change the
tide if brought out. This can easily counter two big monsters out. This card
with comboination of other cards is mega ownage. Maybe with cards like
Messenger of Peacee and Imperial Decree, it can murder monsters. Though any
good card has a negative point, this card has a negative point. First off,
it's stats aren't that great, but that's not really a big deal. Also since
this is a ritual monster, it can b one of those bad cards in your hand, so
it can probably hurt you. Since it's a ritual monster, it can be countered
easily with a Magic Jammer or fissure.

Rating: This card is not that bad of a card. With cards to search out ritual
magic and monster, the Relinquished deck isn't that bad, but sitll can't
compete with today's environment. Though there is a better version of it,
called Thousand Eyes, which I like a little bit better. This reason I would
give this card a 3.0. It's not good or bad. It's one of those so and so
cards.

Conclusion: Awwww no, I absorb a Man-Eater Bug! It just ate me up! No No No!
I will never see the day of light again.

It's Friday, and you know what that means....fun pick special time!  This week, we're looking at a card I promised we were gonna review, Relinquished.

Card Text:
Dark/Spellcaster-Ritual/1/0/0
Effect: This monster can take on the ATK and DEF of 1 opponent's monster on the field (a face-down monster results in an ATK and DEF of 0). Treat the selected monster as an Equip Magic Card and use it to equip "Relinquished." You may use this effect only once per turn and can equip Relinquished with only 1 monster at a time. When your opponent's monster attacks this monster with an ATK higher than Relinquished, the equipped monster is destroyed instead of Relinquished.  Any Life Point damage you recieve from the attacking monster while Relinquished is equipped is also inflicted on your opponent.

Analysis:
Wow, that's a long effect!  It will take too long to dissect, so I'll just tell you that this card's effectiveness is limited by the fact it has 0 attack and defense power, and once the card attached to it is destroyed, you can attack it for a direct damage attack.  The card attached to it can be destroyed by any Magic removal card, but you lose a monster ;.;.  I would hold off on using this card until we get Thousand-Eyes Restrict in the next set.

Should YOU play it?
I wouldn't, at least not yet.  Thousand-Eyes Restrict makes this card very playable.  It's good for fun decks, though.  Just don't forget the Black Illusion Ritual card, as this is a Ritual monster.

Score:
Relinquished gets a 2.5 in my rating book.  It has potential, but it just doesn't have the supporting cast yet.
Trunks the Swordsman Relinquished - Magic Ruler - Ultra Rare

Well... One very interesting monster i must say. Well first you must have the black illusion ritual (super rare) and this card in your hand and of course a monster with a level of 1 or more (geee that must be hard huh?) and bang you got this absorbing beast. Basically once hes out on the field he can absorb ANYTHING even face down monsters BUT the flip effects do not apply. Anyway when absorbing a monster you take one of your opponents monsters and it turns into an equipment magic card on your magic/trap zone. So yes you can despell, heavy storm that monster away since its considered equipment magic. Now when attacking relinquished you basically hit your own creature and your life points will get deducted and the monster will be destroyed and relinquished will still be there for another round of absorbing. So the best way to stop him is to raigeki, fissure all that stuff. Hes one evil ritual but weak to something like man eater bug sucks -.-

If you can keep this guy from geting Fissured he will tear down your
opponent, but if he gets Monster Reborned by your opponent you will see how
much of a pain he is. This guy is one of the most anoying monsters in this
game because he's really, really hard to kill... The darn thing just won't
die!!

He has a pretty bad draw back but just having to wait for a Magic card to be
able to beat your opponent wi this own Blue Eyes is not alwayz that bad.
