Monday - Polymerization - LoBEWD

Personally I don't like this card.  It would so much cooler to just be able to get your fusion monsters without this thing.  As it stands, it is currently the only card available in English from Upper Deck that lets you use Fusion monsters.

That pushes its price up a bit and keeps it slightly harder to find.  I'm sure there will be other cards that allow you to play fusion monsters.  For now, we'll just have to wait.

Rating: 3.8

Monday - Polymerization

Today's COTD is polymerization.  You all know what
this card does.  It allows you to fuse the required
fusion material monsters to bring out your fusion
monster.  Contrary to what some people believe, you
are allowed to fuse monsters from your hand.

Currently in the English game, this is the only way
you are able to summon fusion monsters.  And since
Upperdeck stopped printing LOB boosters, it's really
hard to get them, making fusion monsters really
un-playable. With the release of the Yugi structure
deck sometime in early 2003, it will be much easier to
get.

Should you be playing this card?  Well it all depends
on your deck.  If you have fusion monsters, then of
course you will need 3 of these in your deck.  If you
dont have fusion monsters, this card is useless to
you.

It's pretty hard to rate this card.  For decks that
have fusion monsters, this card will obviously get a
5/5 cause it is required.  For decks that dont have
fusion monsters, it gets a 1/5 because it's useless to
you.  You wont be able to do anything with it.

Welcome to a new week of CotDs.  This week, we're doing a potpourri (sp?) of cards as we wait in anticipation of the release of Magic Ruler.  Today's card is one that every player of this game should be familiar with, Polymerization.

Card Text:
Normal Magic
Fuses 2 or more Fusion-Material monsters to form a new Fusion Monster.
Analysis:
If you look at any Top 5 list for the hottest cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, this will be on it.  Everyone seems to want this card, and I can understand why, for a couple reasons, actually.  One reason is the fact it's a popular card in the anime, and most players that collect/play this game are at least somewhat familiar with this card, as it's a popular anime card.  Another reason is that Fusion decks are starting to pick up steam, and will certainly be aided by the three Fusion-substitute monsters in the tournament packs (reviewed last week) as well as future releases, as some of the most powerful cards in the game are Fusions (Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, anyone?).

Of course, if you're not a collector, and you're not building a Fusion deck, this card is worthless.  You should hold on to any you have, however, just to taunt your friends, or make them offer you really rare cards for it =)

Should YOU play it?
If you use a Fusion deck, you need at least 2, 3 recommended.

Score:
Well, this is the only way to play Fusion cards (currently), and is a very hot card, so Polymerization gets a 3.4.  It is easily counterable by Magic Jammer, however, which cripples any Fusion-based deck.
