Limiter Removal

First of all, I'd like to congratulate my friend who won the Cow Palace Tournament in San Francisco over the weekend. It was a BIG tournament with 116 people and it lasted two whole days. Limiter Removal played an important role in his deck and here's why:

Text:
Doubles the ATK of all Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field. At the end of this turn, all the Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field are destroyed. "

This card is a must if you are running mainly a Machine beatdown with Mechanicalchasers, Cannon Soldier and Jinzo. A single Chaser/Cannon Soldier and a Jinzo with an open field is game with Limiter (unless, of course, if they have a Kuriboh). If you are running Power-Ups like Axe of Despairs or Megamorph (and soon United We Stand and Mage Power), it's even better. Another cool trick that you could do is if your opponent has a Jinzo out. Simply Snatch Steal/Change of Heart it and use Limiter Removal. BOOM! Your opponent took a lot of damage and he lost his precious Jinzo in the process. =)

Although you can combo it with DNA Surgery, usually it's not worth it. It mainly goes in a Machine Beatdown or maybe if you run a deck with Barrel Dragons. If you have Machine-based deck, definitely stick one in if you haven't done so.

Rating: 4.4/5

wartortle32 Wednesday - Limiter Removal

This quick play magic card doubles the attack of all your machines in play and then destroys them at the end of the turn.

Obviously, this is only meant for Machine decks. The reason it is limited to one is that usually when you use it, you have cleared the field and are attacking with something like jinzo or Barrel Dragon and the game is basically yours. What makes it even better is that it is a quick play, so you can wait for the damage step before you play this card, which makes it harder to counter. If you do use it, combine it with DNA Surgery or Dimensionhole to save your machines from death if you haven't destroyed the opponent.

I give it a 4.5/5. Defenitely a must for any machine deck.
NickWhiz1 Wednesday - Limiter Removal

Decks can and will be built around this card. Mechanicalchaser becomes 3700. Jinzo becomes 4800. Barrel Dragon becomes 5200. A DNA-Surgery'd Thousand-Eyes Idol becomes 0 (wait, scratch that...).

What's not to like?

In my opinion, what makes this card truly evil is the official (yes, if you don't believe me, read the rulings PDF) ruling that Limiter Removal will not only double the base ATK, but also will double any boosts the monster may have. Yes, you can double your Axe, double your Nuzzler, double your Megamorph (4x attack *drools*), double your Ring of Magnetism (wait, scratch that...), etc. BTW, Jinzo + Megamorph + Limiter Removal = game over. Fear.

You can also double them all, then launch them with Cannon Soldier (hey, he gets the effect too!) or, even more evil, Catapult Turtle.

One thing that hasn't been addressed by the rulings PDF is DNA Surgery. There are two possibilities with this card related to DNA

Surgery:

1. Activate DNA Surgery, declaring "Machine". Use Limiter Removal to double the ATK of all your face-up monsters. Mercilessly pound your opponent into a fine pulp. Before your turn ends, destroy DNA Surgery or activate another one to nullify the first one. 2. Use Limiter Removal to double your Chasers and Barrel Dragons, pound away, then use DNA Surgery to switch them to Insects or something =/

The way I interpret it is as follows:

Due to the wording of the card ("At the end of this turn, all the Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field are destroyed."), I think that DNA Surgery would indeed prevent the destruction of your monsters by Limiter Removal's secondary effect, because the monsters would not be Machines anymore. If the card had said "...all monsters affected by this card...", then it would work like that. Until an official ruling is made, I think it should be played like this.

Machine decks are bound to get more powerful as bigger and better machines are released (the XYZ set is bound to be included in this equation). With the Machines we have, it's possible to build a decent Limiter Removal deck (good luck getting 3 Chasers, though), but wait until the future, when we get the XYZ set, Cybertic Wyvern (e. Cyber-Tech Alligator -_-), Machine King, and other goodies.

Score: 3.9 (fear)

SomeGuy Wednesday - Limiter Removal

"Doubles the ATK of all Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field. At the end of this turn, all the Machine-Type monsters on your side of the field are destroyed."

Obviously this card combos well with Mechanical Chaser, Cannon Soldier, Jinzo and even Barrel Dragon to an extent (The two Tribute hurts though). When timed correctly, it's a game ender. Your opponent won't see it coming.

An attacking Mechanical Chaser and Cannon Soldier that has been Limited Removal-ed deals 6500 damage. Then Tribute both Monsters to Cannon Soldier's effect for a grand total of 7500 damage. If any equipment card was attached, that could possibly spell game (Unless your opponent counters or prevents the damage).

If you have Traps that you would like to use, but have a Jinzo in play, you can cast Limiter Removal which will give you a lethal final blow while destroying your Jinzo.

An interesting little combo that some people use is to Snatch Steal/Change of Heart an opposing Jinzo, then playing Limiter Removal. Even though it takes two restricted cards to perform, it gives you a double bonus if successful (The Jinzo will be destroyed and you will deal a nice amount of damage).

Rating: 2.9/5

If it wasn't restricted, the metagame would be full of quick-kill Machine decks.

Wednesday - Limiter Removal

This card is good for setting up the finish.  It also lends a bit of power to Machine monsters, which desperately need it.  You have to be very careful when deciding to use a card like this.  The risk of losing your own monsters can be huge.  However, if you've cleared the way, or you have three, maybe for, monsters to your opponents one, it's golden.

Rating - 3.4
