ExMinion OfDarkness Thursday:
The Agent of Creation -- Venus

This isn't a bad monster at all. Tribute decks will REALLY like this effect.

You pay 500 Life Points to pull out a monster from your Deck with 500 attack points. I equate this to an Ultimate Offering that doesn't have to be set for a turn. Have this down for a turn (or revive it), use the effect once or twice, and Tribute away.

This card makes it much easier to play the higher level Fairy monsters. It thins your Deck (preventing you from drawing the Shine Balls later), and Precious Cards from Beyond may actually have a use in a Deck using this combo.

Lastly, let's not forget our little friend United We Stand. Pay 1500 life points to make United do 2400 more? Sounds fair to me.

If you're playing a fairy deck with more than the normal amount of Tribute monsters, you might want to look into this.

4/5
Tranorix Thursday: The Agent of Creation – Venus

Venus is a very interesting monster. At first the effect might seem like nothing; you get to summon little monsters with 500 ATK from your hand or deck at the cost of 500 LP. Add Venus's stats (which, I will point out, are very good for Gravity Bind) and you would seem to have a mediocre monster.

But that isn't the case at all. These Shine Balls are good for deck thinning, as well as swarming, or even something as simple as Cannon Soldier bait (and subsequently Chaos food) for Chaos decks. You can also combo it with Solar Ray; total, you'll be paying 1500 Life Points to do 2400 damage. At the very least, you can put up some extra defense with them.

Venus might not be worth it in a typical Fairy deck (though the Shine Balls also help Mudora when in the Grave), but the effect is definitely useful for certain Burners, as well as Chaos decks.

Typical tournament deck: 3/5
Burn deck: 4/5
OVERALL RATING: 3.5/5
dawnyoshi Venus...I am personally not too fond of coughing up life so quickly in one turn unless it's for something huge (Solemn Judgment to stop a chaos monster). Venus, however, can be a useful combo monster. I "guess" it can be combed with Thousand Energy, but I don't really like that card either...hmm...perhaps hysteric Fairy? But that's a pretty bad trade off...pay 1000 life to thin your deck, and gain 1000 life afterwards. I'd rather use Thunder Dragons for that.

The best use Venus has is for summoning Mystical Shine Balls to use for tribute summons. Sword of Soul-Eater isn't bad either. By summoning 3 mystical shine balls from your deck and equipping one of them with Sword of Soul-Eater, you'll instantly get a 2500 ATK level 2 monster. That isn't bad at all. It can easily be counted, but it isn't bad...

Constructed: 2.5/5

Limited: 3/5

Might be more useful in limited. Shine Balls are common, and they're a quick way to bring out sacrificial bait for something like Gogiga Gagagigo, and with THAT on the field, your opponent will be at a major disadvantage in limited...just don't overspend for the effect.
