Graceful Charity

I guess this is our way of saying "good wishes for the year 2006."

That is, if they weren't banned.

Actually, as much as I'm an advocate for broken cards (I don't miss the Trinity as a whole but I do miss BLS), there's a very good reason for this card to be banned.

Dark World monsters.

If this card was legal, Dark World would probably be the next CC, as it would basically read: "Draw 3 cards. Special Summon 2 monsters from your hand to the field." Then we'd have all these mirror Dark World matchups, people trying to Creature Swap their Morphing Jar over to their opponent so they can get the secondary effect, and hoping their opponent doesn't have a lot of DW in their hand when they play Card Destruction.

There's broken that can be dealt with (BLS) and insane broken. Outside of Dark Hole, Torrential Tribute, and Mirror Force, I don't like people getting +5 out of one card.

In conclusion, although this card owned back in the day, and I actually remember the month that it wasn't limited at all and I ran THREE, there's valid reason to keep this thing under lock and key, as it would be too powerful in Dark World with the controlled discard. Note that Pot of Greed doesn't have a controlled discard. There was no reason to ban that!

5/5 Traditional

Coin Flip
This year is over. So I wish for the divine forces of luck (and
karma) to treat you well in the following year. Graceful Charity is a good representation of this. It gives you card advantage and card quality and fun times all around. :)

It's banned, but it gets 5/5 in Traditional.

dawnyoshi Graceful Charity is broken. Drawing three cards in this game is insane. Discarding cards for effects and recursion combos is ridiculous. Print both of these mechanics on one card and you have one seriously busted spell card. Add a little FTK and Dark World to the factor and you suddenly see why Graceful Charity is banned from the advanced format.

Advanced: Banned/5
Traditional: Ridiculous/5 (5/5)

Dark Paladin
Closing out the week, we look at another banned card, Graceful Charity.
Like yesterday and Monday's card, this is good, and you better be using it in Traditional where you can. You know what it's capable of so use it.

Ratings:

Traditional: 4.95/5
Advanced: Banned/5

Overall Rating: 2.65/5

Art: 5/5

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)
