Grandma is not the most useful of the monarchs. The stats are not a surprise, and I won't even bother going over them.

The effect is nifty. It's a 1-for-1 that isn't barred by the limits of Mobius or Zaborg. On the upside, it's a fairly common thing for your opponent to have a f/d on the field, monster or m/t. The downside is that that m/t might just be a Torrential Tribute or Bottomless Trap Hole. ~_~

The downside is that, unlike Thestalos and Mobius (the best monarch), he might hit you when you don't want him to. I mean, you might WANT Mobius to hit your own cards, like Dark Coffin or something. Not likely, but still a possibility. And Thestalos won't touch your hand.
But Zaborg and Grandma might force you to hit your own stuff if you summon them. The effect is the standard 1-for-1 that should be fairly useful most of the time.

He's average.

ExMinion OfDarkness Granmarg, the Rock Monarch

So we have 4 Monarchs right now...Zaborg (AST), Mobius (SOD), Thestalos (ROD), and Granmarg (FET).

My opinion: Mobius is best, just edging out Zaborg, then this guy, and Thestalos hits the bottom.

If you're hitting a monster with this, it's great. If you're hitting an M/T with this, and they chain it, you shoulda just played Mobius. The ATK score is respectable, but it's only a 1 card kill. If Fiber Jar wasn't banned this would be a bit more playable, since nuking the Fiber would send the game heavily in your favor...

But Granmarg just doesn't make the cut. There's no shortage of good monster removal spells and traps. There IS a shortage of good Magic/Trap removal spells and traps. That makes this guy weaker than Mobius.

Granmarg the Rock Monarch

Granmarg is an interesting monster, the fourth of the Monarchs.  As a result, then, he has a predictable 2400 ATK, which is good (but not great) for a one-tribute monster.  He’s also, quite predictably, EARTH.  Hence being the Rock Monarch.

Granmarg is different from his brethren in that his effect can kill both monsters and Spells/Traps.  The downside is that he can only destroy one, and he can only kill face-downs.  So if your opponent chains Ceasefire to the activation of Granmarg’s effect, you won’t get to kill the monster.  If your opponent activates Gravity Bind in response to your targeting it with Granmarg’s effect, Gravity Bind will remain on the field.

Of course, some of these situations are pretty rare.  You’re just as likely to kill a Magic Cylinder or something; and of course, face-down monsters are always nice prey.  Get rid of D.D. Warrior Lady/Assailant, then smack your opponent for 2400.  Granmarg works well in decks with cards that flip monsters face-down (Book of Moon comes to mind, as does Tsukuyomi).  An Earth-Trample Deck is conceivable now, with Granmarg in addition to Enraged Battle Ox.  Give him a shot.

Snapper Granmarg the Rock Monarch

As FET Week continues we get to the newest of the Monarchs, Granmarg the Rock Monarch.

Like all the Monarchs, Granmarg has an ATK of 2400 giving him the criteria to become an acceptable Level 6 monster. The ATK is about as beautiful as Granmarg gets stat wise. Being a Rock-Type isn’t a benefit at this point in time. And being of the EARTH persuasion only makes him Gigantes fodder. And sadly for Granmarg, the effect doesn’t do much for him either.

Like all the Monarchs, Granmarg’s effect activates when properly Tribute Summoned. In Granmarg’s case he can destroy 1 face-down card on the field… That’s it? Wow. So he can get rid of a face-down monster or a Set S/T. Well you know what I’d prefer using? Nobleman of Crossout or MST. Not only would I accomplish the same thing but I would also still get to summon a REAL Monarch. Don’t get me wrong; Granmarg has a useful effect, but he isn’t a monster I’d want to summon when I’ve got Mobius, Zaborg, or Thestalos instead. Just save Granmarg for Rock Decks whenever TLM comes out; he may find a home there.

Advanced: 3/5. I’m sure you could find a better Level 6 monster than Granmarg.
Traditional: 2.5/5. Raigeki and Harpie’s Feather Duster anyone?
Overall: 2.75/5.
Art: 3.5/5. Like his effect, Granmarg’s artwork isn’t very interesting.

Dark Paladin Wednesday brings us another brother to the Monarch family, YIPPEE!!!!!!

Granmarg the Rock Monarch
2400-1000
Rock/Earth
Level 6

Now, this guy is a lot like Mobius, just not as good, in my opinoin. Mobius can destroy up to 2 Spell or Trap cards when successfully tribute summoned.
This
guy can destroy 1 face down card under the same requirements.

So, this guy could nuke a face down Sangan, Magician of Faith, Man Eater Bug, and the like or he could nuke a face down Mirror Force or Scapegoat. Don't get me wrong, he is quite versatile I just prefer Mobius. We have Nobleman of Crossout for a reason folks.

Sorry for the short review, I just don't have much to say about him.

Conclusion: Mobius is better!
