Toon Goblin Attack Force
Super Rare

This card cannot attack during the turn that it is Normal Summoned, Special Summoned or Flip Summoned. When "Toon World" on the field is destroyed, this card is also destroyed. If "Toon World" is on your side of the field and your opponent does not control a Toon Monster, this card can attack your opponent's Life Points directly. If this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase and you cannot change this Battle Position until the end of your next turn..

Type - Warrior/Toon
Card Number - DL7-EN001

ExMinion OfDarkness Toon Goblin Attack Force

Now we look at Toon GAF, which is part of the "Class C" toons the Japanese have been used to for some time.

Some things you need to know about Toon GAF:

*It DOES NOT need Toon World on the field to be summoned or to attack -- it ONLY needs it on the field if it's attempting to attack directly with its effect. This lets the Toon GAF be a slightly weaker GAF in a pinch, if nothing else it's an offensive wall for a turn.

*It still dies if Toon World is on the field and Toon World dies, so typically you want to be careful of when you're going to play the Toon World.

*It can't attack the same turn it's NORMAL summoned -- meaning if you Premature Burial/Call of the Haunted it, it's free of that restriction.

All that having been said, Toon GAF is a great opener for a Toon deck...and a direct 2300 smack to the face isn't too shabby either. It has its weaknesses, but a Toon deck as a whole has major flaws. It's best to let this thing remain in casual play.

Toon Goblin Attack Force

If you know anything about me (and I’m sure at least some of you do), you’ll know that Pegasus is my favorite character from Yu-Gi-Oh.  You’ll also, then, probably know that I’m a big fan of Toon Decks (and resultantly, Toon cards).  Toon Goblin Attack Force is definitely a good Toon; boasting 2300 ATK and the ability to attack directly with Toon World on the field, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Let’s clear up some stuff.  First of all, you CAN summon and attack with this even without Toon World on the field, but he doesn’t get his effect of attacking directly unless you DO have Toon World; and if you have Toon World on the field and it’s destroyed, so is he.

But he has two terrible little drawbacks: one, he can’t attack the turn he’s summoned (like the rest of the Class C Toons); and two, he has the regular Goblin Attack Force’s drawback of going to DEF after he attacks and not being able to change back during the next turn.

There are, of course, ways around both impediments.  Play Vengeful Bog Spirit and your opponent’s monsters won’t be able to attack the turn they’re summoned either; play Final Attack Orders and TGAF will always stay in ATK.  But honestly, I find Toon Goblin Attack Force less playable than the other Class C Toons (but still much better than the old Class A ones [Manga Ryu Ran?  Meh]).

Snapper Toon Goblin Attack Force

Oh goodie, we’re reviewing Toons! Today’s card is Toon Goblin Attack Force, a Toon Monster that varies very little from his non-Toon counterpart.

Toon GAF is basically a carbon copy of the original GAF; they’ve got 2300 ATK, making them the strongest easy to use Level 4 or lower monster. They’re also a Warrior, allowing you to use the effects of Reinforcements of the Army, The Warrior Returning Alive, and Command Knight with/on them. Also like the original GAF, Toon GAF switches to Defense Position at the end of a Battle Phase in which it attacks, and can’t manually change its position during the next turn. It’s a somewhat saddening effect, allowing you to use Toon GAF most likely only once due to their 0 DEF. But you can’t have a 2300 ATK Level 4 monster without some kind of drawback…

Unlike the original GAF, Toon GAF comes with a Toon-Type effect (I wonder why?). First, it can’t attack during the turn it’s summoned. This is the only real negative about this classification of Toon, making any monster with the effect rather slow by taking away its chance of doing any damage during the turn it’s summoned. Anyhow, Toon GAF also gets some advantages from the Toon homeland, Toon World. While it and Toon World are on the field (and the opponent controls no Toons), Toon GAF can attack the opponent directly, which basically gives you a free opportunity to take away 1/4th of the opponent’s Life Points. But with this privilege comes a consequence; if Toon World is destroyed Toon GAF is also destroyed. Lucky for you there’s a way to get around this genocide of Toons in the form of Emergency Provisions; if Toon World is going to bite the big one, use Emergency Provisions on Toon World before it’s destroyed, saving your Toons and increasing your Life Points by 1000.

Now that we’ve gotten this monster of a paragraph out of the way, how can you avoid some of these disadvantages that Toon GAF comes with? You’ll need to wait until Friday to find out! Mwahahahaha! All in all, Toon GAF is a great monster… in a Toon Deck. In any other Deck I’d advise sticking to the regular GAF.

Advanced (Toon Deck): 4.5/5. The only reason they get such a high score is due to the lack of other low Level Toons.
Traditional (Toon Deck): 4.5/5. See Advanced.
Overall (Toon Deck): 4.5/5.
Art: 3/5. Some monsters look better when they get Toonatized, but not GAF!

Dark Paladin Toon Goblin Attack Force

Well, I won't spend time boring you with the same old same old effect, as this monster is (obviously) a Toon. Similarly, this card being a Toon version of Goblin Attack Force shifts into defense mode after conducting an attack.

Note: Keep in mind the review for this card and the ratings are for and ONLY FOR A TOON DECK.

If for whatever reason you decided to run a Toon Deck then this card is a staple along with tomorrow's card. This card has all the pros of the non-toon Goblin Attack Force aside from the HUGE disadvantage of actually being a toon.

Long story short, don't run a Toon deck unless you're feeling QUITE rentsy.

Stick with a real Warrior deck and the real Goblin Attack Force.

Ratings:

4/5 across the board but ONLY in a Toon deck
1/5 elsewhere

May the Force be with you, and stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Coin Flip
Toon GAF is one of two new Toon cards we have seen premiered in the Toys'R'Us Duelist league. This one can be played in two decks, and the other can be played in significantly fewer. However, both are fairly good. Toon GAF does this: Everything GAF does, but it's a Toon and can't attack directly on the first turn. The difference between this and the crap that is Toon Mermaid? Simple; this can be summoned without Toon World on the field and doesn't require LP payment to attack.

2300 is a fairly large amount. The largest amount of ATK a 4 star has right now is 2500, and that won't be released in America until later this year (where it will possibly see play in combo with both Barrel Behind the Door and Creature Swap, and quite possibly Skill Drain. Nowhere else, though.) The DEF leaves quite a bit to be desired, but hey, the ATK! 2300 does stuff. It can just sit there as a wall if necessary. You can combo it with Friday's card if you don't like the thought of Zombyra or Giant Orc in that deck. Why, I don't know. Both of those cards make it infinitely easier to use Deck Devastation Virus, and that's why I'd play them over this. Just wait until Friday.

Useless in General, adequate in Friday's deck, and good in Toons.
