Sand Moth

We're finally into the holiday season, and if your opponent Exileds this, they just gave you a big gift.

Sand Moth is a good anti-card; it works well against popular cards like Zaborg, Exiled Force, and Mystic Swordsman Lv. 2. Zaborg loses out on the instant 1 for 1 trade it thought it was getting, instead having to deal with 2000 ATK instead of either attacking directly, or attacking the monster it wanted to attack in the first place. X-Force...well, you're just screwed; you lost your monster, your normal summon for the turn, and have to either defend with a Spell/Trap or take 2,000 to the face. Mystic 2 is pretty much in the same category, as that 900 ATK isn't standing up to much, let alone an "enraged" Sand Moth.

It's good, and it screws over cookie-cutter. If you're one of those people who is all "I hate netdeckers" and "I'm sick of seeing these same cards over and over" and the like, you should give this card a try. At worst, you have a 2,000 defender that needs a Cyber Dragon to get it out of the way without investing a card effect that would be more valuable in destroying a Monarch or something.

4/5 Advanced
2/5 Traditional (because Raigeki and Dark Hole would trigger it too)

Ryoga
Sand Moth:
A card whose power is directional proportional to the use of other cards.

If every man and his dog are using Mystic Swordsman
LV2 and Exiled Force to clear away face-downs, this is a piece of brilliance. If they aren't, it isn't. It's as simple as that. 2000 DEF is very good, but GK Spy does the job slightly better. So, ask yourself the question, "Just how likely is someone to try and kill this?"

Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 3/5

Ok, people are running three zaborg the thunder monarch, two exiled force, 2 old vindictive magicians, mystic swordsman LV. 2 ( his play is increasing again), and torrential tribute in the average deck. It says that cause it is a nerdy card, one of those guys who doesn't mind hiding from the world but goes aggro and shoots you for bothering him. I have been running two of these just because of all the face down hate that has been going on.

Not to mention dark world lighting targets face down monsters, and we all know that card has increased in popularity. Either he will defend your LP with his massive 2000 defense points or he will punish an overzealous opponent for messing with your face downs.  I personally love him due to the fact I always draw two and set both of them drawing a torrential tribute out within the first three moves for a plus:)

A great card.  Some people argue that he is to dependant upon your opponent for benefits, but honestly, if your opponent is going to play the cc then why not take advantage of it?

Sand Moth

Sand Moth is one of the best counters to face-down monster removal. Crossout limited to 1 makes Sand Moth very viable in todays metagame.

Here’s a list of the popular cards he can counter:

1. Mystic Swordsman LV2
2. Exiled Force
3. Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
4. Sasuke Samurai #4
5. Dark World Lightning
6. Old Vindictive Magician
7. Deck Devastation Virus (while f/d)

Last Word: Sand Moth is a good card for countering a metagame with Toolbox and Dark World. You keep field presence as a result of face-down removal. What more could you ask for?
