Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Symbols of Duty

The First Hokage Symbols of Duty

Well for me, this week is Finals week, which blows because finals are just bad in general... Anyways, this week, we are reviewing some TAEV cards that we haven't reviewed yet. And today, we are looking at Symbols of Duty. Basically in a nutshell this card allows you to send 1 Normal monster you control to the graveyard and then you can special summon 1 monster from either graveyard, and then when this card is removed from the field, the equipped monster is destroyed.

This card is kind of giving a push to normal monsters although everyone will still prefer to use effect monsters. Not too many decks in the meta revolve around Normal monsters, and decks that would be effective at that. The fact that you can special summon from either players graveyard is nice, but playing Normal monsters is kind of bad in my opinion unless you can do really well with them

I kind of like this card, but it won't be played until Normal Monsters get a heavy push because effect monsters are bread and butter right now. In Traditional, the meta is too heavy with Chaos, and then Advanced, relies on too many effect monsters. It's a nice card, but it won't see play.

My ratings:

Advanced: 2.5/5 Has Some Potential
Traditional: 1.5/5

I'm finally on the COTD section of Yugioh! Now this is awesome! Alright, time for writing matters. Personally, I think this card has some potential in a Normal-Based deck in the advanced format. This card requires you to send a normal monster you control to the graveyard to special summon a monster from either player's graveyard. Special summoning form any graveyard is great since D-Heroes are back and you could summon their D-Hero Disk Commander onto your side of the field, giving you two free cards to draw from your deck. Has some potential under certain circumstances.

Traditional: 1.75/5 (Normal monsters that rule much around here since Chaos and Yata-Lock rules this terrain)
Advanced: 3.5/5
Ed Monday: Symbols of Duty

This card really isn't too bad…in a normal deck, but normal decks aren't too competitive in the current format. With all the removal and the monarchs running around, we don't have much time to play around with the normal support. Symbols of Duty can come in pretty handy in certain times, though. When you have a card that you might run in a semi-competitive deck such as Goga Gagagigo in a Legendary Ocean Deck (where the level is decreased by one), you wouldn't want to send it to the Graveyard, but use it to attack. However, Symbols of Duty can come in useful when you need to get a huge monster from your opponent's Graveyard or your back on the field such as Jinzo or something, since those cards can really change the duel around. The card would be better if it wasn't an equip card similar to Premature Burial, though.

Traditional: 1/5: We have Monster Reborn. I don't think normal monsters exist in this format, either.

Advanced: 2/5
Normal Deck: 4/5

Art: 2.3/5
Gen Zorpa Symbols of Duty

For all of you that cried when Monster Reborn was banned, this card is for you. You do have to sacrifice a Normal Monster on your side of the field, but that is almost inconsequential since you will often be reviving game breaking cards. Dark Magician of Chaos, Destiny Hero Disc Commander or even a Monarch are all viable targets. Don't forget that you can also revive from your opponent's graveyard, in order to steal their Treeborn Frog, Disc Commander or other card that has been giving you some trouble in order to deny it to your opponent. All in all Swing of Memories is better for most decks, but this is an insanely powerful card that should not be overlooked because it has the word "Normal" in it's card text.

Traditional-1/5
Advanced-3/5
Dark Paladin Today we look at Symbols of Duty, a card similar to a little card known as Autonomous Action Unit from Magician's Force. Here, by sending a Normal Monster to your Graveyard that you control, you can Special Summon a monster from either player's Graveyard.

Now, most decks can't take use of this, as most of us don't use Normal monsters. However, a Blue Eyes Deck, a Dark Magician Deck, or anyone out there who plays a fun character deck or something with a fair amount of Normal monsters.

It's a nice idea, but sadly, it seems to have no real playability in the current format. This card IS however just crying to be played in a Normal Monster deck, as they seem to get more support with each set...almost on a (sickening) E-Hero Level.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1.5/5

Advanced: 2.5/5 (Potential some places, useless others. Fairly

average overall)

Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, Normal Monster Deck: 4/5

Art: 4/5 I appreciate the dog tags in the picture as I'm a member of the Michigan Army National Guard :)

Pwii
hi this is pwii! this is my first ever CotD review [sorry I'm a little late.] but I'm gonna do my best to catch up, so check the rest of this week for my melodious writing. so todays card is symbols of duty.

a nice piece of tech at a first glance. vanilla's counterpart to 6s tactics. but a second look shows that this is not spell speed two, it makes a weakness for the revived monster, nothing that special. this would be a whole lot better if those two things were removed. but as is, BAD. sadly, i think i speak for most of the team when i say that i do not rate cards based on their hypothetical potential.

trad. 1/5 because anything that doesnt support chaos is bad cuz chaos is just so superior

adv. 2/5 just not good enough
