Hello Pojo Fans,

Mimighoul Slime starts off another look at Mimighouls.

Like most Mimighoul monsters, Slime will be giving itself to the opponent in face-down position. Force the flip up in the Main Phase to get the Slime back while also getting a free Special Summon from the Deck of any Mimighoul you want. Easy way to get to Mimighoul Dragon or Mimighoul Master, and it is easily flipped face-up with Mimighoul Archfiend. Mimighoul Fork and Mimighoul Dungeon also work great with any of the Mimighoul monsters as long as you keep them face-down, Dungeon keeping the opponent from Normal Summoning or attacking with Special Summoned monsters and holding back monster effects, forcing them to take a negative by flipping up the Mimighoul you gave them. Mimighoul Fork gives you full control of the flipping, and in Slime’s case, getting it back and Special Summoning any Mimighoul you want to the field. Archfiend will change battle position of a monster, Dragon is your Spell/Trap search for Mimighoul, and Master is your RoTA as well as a Quick Effect Book of Moon/Book of Taiyou.

Not as direct at getting you advantage as Dragon, but like all other Mimighouls minus the Master, it’s a Level 1 that can get you to your Rank 1’s and can be returned when flipped. The deck has ways to get to everything and there’s still One for One if all else fails.

The final week before the Top 10 of 2024 goes to Mimighoul Wave 2, as the Deck gets more support to speed up its gameplan, and we start the week with Mimighoul Slime.

Mimighoul Slime is a Level 1 EARTH Aqua Filp with 400 ATK and 500 DEF. Stats mean this is weak even under Dungeon, and the combo of EARTH and Aqua is super odd. First effect is the FLIP Effect we’re used to that triggers during the Main Phase, letting the opponent summon a Mimighoul from their Deck to their field and then this card swaps control. It goes well with the effect we’ve seen on all the other Level 1 Mimighouls, where you can summon this to the opponent’s field in face-down Defense Position, so that means the FLIP effect triggering will benefit you. This should let you summon Dragon for a Spell/Trap search for the archetype or Archfiend to flip another Mimighoul the opponent has face-up for its effect. It should also be mentioned this can be Special Summoned from the hand to your field face-up if the opponent controls more monsters than you. This is made to help you make the new Rank 1s in the archetype, though Mimighoul Fairy probably has the better effect to summon to your field if you need to make a Rank 1. HOPT on each effect is standard. Slime is a nice support card, letting you summon more Mimighouls out your Deck for plays as well as being another extender if you needed it for Xyzs. The number played feels like player preference, but it’s a staple for the archetype either way.

The surprise breakout TCG exclusive Mimighoul got its inevitable second wave in Rage of the Abyss, and the first card we’ll cover is Mimighoul Slime. Slime is a level 1 EARTH Aqua Flip monster, another strange combination though for Mimighoul purposes the only relevant part is being level 1. At this point, there are way too many ways to list out how to search it, though in my opinion you’ll usually be searching it with Mimighoul Dungeon since it’s most useful in the hand as an extender. As expected of a level 1 monster, Slime comes with an abysmal stat spread of 400 attack and 500 defense, stats that not even Dungeon can fix.

Slime’s Flip effect (hard once per turn, of course) can only trigger during the Main Phase, first letting your opponent (that is, you) Special Summon a Mimighoul monster from their deck, then, in typical Mimighoul fashion, switching control to your opponent once again, you). As an extender, Slime is easily the strongest of the Mimighoul Main Deck monsters, since this will effectively get you an E-Tele and a body as long as you can trigger Slime on your own turn…which brings us to the problem! Mimighoul Master only works during your opponent’s turn, so you’ll be forced to weave Mimighoul Archfiend into your combos to make full use of it. Slime’s other effect is also hard once per turn, following the trademark Mimighoul effect to Special Summon itself from your hand to your opponent’s field face-down; alternatively, if your opponent controls more monsters than you (very possible if you use another Mimighoul), you can summon Slime face-up to your own field instead. It’s always nice to have a basic extender option, even if it is conditional, though generally you’ll be summoning it to your opponent so you can flip it with Archfiend and get your combos going. I’m disappointed that there aren’t more ways to flip it, but Slime is still a great card, and if nothing else it’s still Xyz or Link fodder. The jury is mixed on ratios– I personally like 3 copies for the safety in extending, but the topping lists I’ve seen are running 1 or even 2, so go with your gut!

+Can generate a lot of advantage after being flipped
+Functions as an extender or combo piece
-Relies on Mimighoul Archfiend to be effectively weaved into combos
-Can only summon itself to your field if you have fewer monsters
