OLD FRIENDS AND FAN FAVORITES RETURN THIS FALL IN THE Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME!

Hawthorne, Calif. (October 9, 2024) – The 2024 tournament season’s come to a close in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG), but the 2025 season has already begun! This October, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) is excited to welcome Yu-Gi-Oh! fans to the next era of Dueling, starting with a brand-new booster set! Rage of the Abyss brings a lot of new support for classic WATER themes by reuniting old allies, and the set reinforces recent strategies like Centur-Ion and Fiendsmith. Look for new support for classic Decks like Mermail, Atlanteans, and Six Samurai, and in addition to the cards to power up Dueling icons like Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon!

Fall is a fantastic time to be a Duel fan! Regional Qualifiers are happening all across North and Latin America, so eager Duelists can earn their invites to the 2025 World Championship Qualifiers next year. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) events, a showcase for Championship-level Dueling, continue in October with YCS Niagara Falls in Canada! And for Duelists in the New York Metropolitan Area there’s a special opportunity: a chance to visit the KONAMI booth at New York Comic Con! There is still plenty to do as the year draws to a close, and it all starts with the next TCG release.

FIRE themes like Snake-Eyes, Rescue-ACE, and Fire Kings have spread their flames in the current era of Dueling, but a new booster set’s about to quench the flames with a wave of new WATER cards! Rage of the Abyss is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG’s next 101-card core booster, dripping with legacy support for fan-favorite themes that sees old allies return to do battle! Veteran Duelists may remember the bond between the Atleanteans from Phantom Darkness and the Mermail from Abyss Rising: together, they dominated tournament tables in 2013. Now they’re back, with new monsters that officially merge the two themes: “Mermail” monsters treated as Atlanteans, and “Atlantean” monsters treated as Mermail!

More united than ever before, these new Atlantean and Mermail monsters lead a charge from the seas, and it’s headed straight toward 2 splashy new boss monsters! Overlay any of your Atlantean or Mermail Xyz Monsters and rank them up into a terrifying new Rank 7 Atlantean: wielding 3000 Attack Points, its effect lets you return up to 3 cards your opponent controls back to their hand. And if this Xyz Monster’s ever sent to the Graveyard you can discard a card to Special Summon 3 Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua monsters! And that’s not all – a new Link-3 of royal Mermail lineage protects your WATER monsters from targeted effects. If a WATER monster’s sent to the Graveyard to activate a card effect, you can arm this monster with an “Abyss-“ Equip Spell straight from your Deck or Graveyard, or add that card to your hand. And if your opponent ever destroys this regal Link Monster, you can add an Atlantean or Mermail monster from your Deck to your hand to continue your oceanic onslaught!

But be careful! You might need a bigger boat, because the “Shark” theme is back too! A new version of Big Jaws makes Xyz Summoning a snap, surfacing to stand in for Xyz Materials of Level 3, Level 4, or Level 5! Special Summon it straight from your hand as long as you activated a Spell Card this turn, and whenever it’s Normal or Special Summoned, you’ll get a Fish-type “Shark” monster from your Deck! New “Shark” monsters of Level 3 and Level 4 help you assemble your Xyz Summons, while adding effects to your other Xyz Monsters.

And if you’re wondering what you should Xyz Summon with all this new support, the new Number C32: Shark Drake LeVeiss lets you use Chaos Xyz Evolution to upgrade a Rank 4 “Shark Drake” Xyz Monster you control. Unleash its ability to negate opposing monster effects, shrink their ATK and DEF to 0, and attack twice with piercing damage! Need some backup? A new Rank 3 Sea Serpent can reel in Fish, Sea Serpents, and Aqua-types from your Graveyard to your hand, move Xyz Materials between monsters, and search a brand-new Trap Card that’s like a double Fish Depth Charge – one that’s easier to use, and gives you added protection!

Never learned to swim? Don’t worry, Rage of the Abyss has plenty to offer landlocked Duelists too, starting with a new theme that supports..wait for it…Normal Monsters?! Yes, 3 new Spell Cards and a new Trap Card all work to buff classic strategies, from Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon, to Dark Magician and even Six Samurai! Boost your monsters’ Attack Points for each Normal Monster in your Graveyard, protect them from battle, banish opposing monsters, negate their effects, and best of all – discover new ways to Special Summon massive Normal Monsters straight from your Deck! You’ll never struggle to Summon your best Normal Monsters ever again.

Speaking of Samurai…sharpen your blade and get ready to hop back on the Bushido bandwagon, because the Six Samurai have returned! Special Summon 2 new Tuner monsters from your hand anytime you control another Six Samurai. When they’re sent from the field to the Graveyard, they’ll each arm you with Samurai support from your Deck, and when you use them to Synchro Summon a Six Samurai, they’ll gift their master with extra abilities! That’s perfect, because Rage of the Abyss introduces two new Level 6 “Six Samurai” Synchro Monsters, new versions of Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, and Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi. The new Shi En will seek out Six Samurai and Shien monsters from your Deck, negate monster effects, destroy opposition, and defy death with the classic Samurai sacrifice ability! The new Enishi bolsters your Warriors in battle, banishes Samurai from your Graveyard to send opposing monsters running back to your opponent’s hand, and replaces itself with a banished Six Samurai when defeated!

Looking for something more modern? The World Premiere Mimighoul theme from The Infinite Forbidden gets a second round of mimicry monsters and sneaky support cards in Rage of the Abyss. A new Link-3 version of Fiendsmith Engraver extends your plays, revives your monsters, and gives them massive piercing damage! Fiendsmith also gets a new ally, offering new ways to set up and pay off your Graveyard. The Centur-Ion saga continues too, first with a monster that can interrupt your opponent’s Chained effects and transform them to help you load your Spell & Trap Card Zone; and then with a new Level 8 Synchro Monster, one that searches and retrieves your Emblema cards, blasts threats off the field, and once fallen, can rebuild itself from the Graveyard stronger than before!

Get ready for the next chapter in the story of Diabellstar the Black Witch and the White Forest too, because a mysterious quartet of Illusion Fusions are tapping the power of the Sinful Spoils. Gather Sinful Spoils cards, demolish the field, and shatter your opponent’s most important plans with these mysterious Fusion Monsters, foreshadowed in Sinful Spoils cards from past sets! And if you’re just looking to power up your current Deck, you’ll want the new member of the Mulcharmy family, the follow-up to Mulcharmy Purulia found in The Infinite Forbidden. While Parulia punished your opponent for Summoning from their hand, this new Muchlarmy draws you a card every time your opponent Special Summons a monster from their Main or Extra Deck! You’ll also find a powerful new Trap Card in the tradition of Dominus Purge from The Infinite Forbidden, negating an effect that Special Summons a monster, and destroys the source if you have a Trap in your Graveyard. Just like Purge, you can play this new Trap Card straight from your hand!

Dive into action on October 11 when Rage of the Abyss splashes into stores! The complete set includes a total of 101 cards: 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares and 10 Secret Rares. 24 of these cards also come as Quarter Century Secret Rare variants, and 1 special card is only available as a Quarter Century Secret Rare. MSRP $4.49 per 9-card pack.
