Silhouhatte Rabbit – #INFO-EN052

2 Effect Monsters
If this card battles a monster, neither can be destroyed by that battle. You can only use each of the following effects of “Silhouhatte Rabbit” once per turn. If this card is Link Summoned: You can Set 1 Continuous Trap from your Deck with an effect that Special Summons itself as a monster, also this card cannot be used as Link Material this turn. If a card in the Spell & Trap Zone is Special Summoned to the Monster Zone (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; destroy it.

As funny as it would be to cover Santa Claws today, the countdown marches on! Number 8 flew a little under the radar at first, but is starting to get the recognition it deserves– Silhouhatte Rabbit continues our countdown, a Link 2 LIGHT Illusion Link monster. In my initial review, I underestimated just how much it’d be splashed, so I’m willing to admit defeat on this one. Rabbit will take any two Effect monsters, making it completely generic, and while it has a rather poor attack stat of 1500, that won’t matter in the end!

Rabbit’s primary purpose is the same as S:P Little Knight: it’s a generic endboard piece to make if you happen to have any leftover monsters on the board, or it’s a perfectly serviceable endboard goal if your deck lacks any real disruption in-house. You can grab the intended target, Silhouhatte Trick, for a targeting omni negate, or you can grab Angel Statue – Azurune, which gives a Special Summon negate and destruction that is particularly potent against decks that rely heavily on their Special Summon extenders. Unexpectedly, Rabbit has a crazy tech with Memento as well; rather than searching Trick, they can search Apophis the Swamp Deity instead, letting you Link off Rabbit for another monster since Apophis will be live with Memento Cranium Burst. Personally I still don’t think it takes priority over S:P because it does require a brick, but it’s still an amazing generic disruption if you can afford the space. The standard Illusion protection and backrow pop are both cherries on top of an already great card. With the freshly announced Eldlich support on the horizon, there’s even more reason to keep an eye out for Rabbit. Thus, I’ll be bumping it up 0.25 points in our re-review!

+Can help access Trap monsters for decks that need them
+Strong disruption with Silhouhatte Trick on an extremely generic monster
-Limited usage going second
-Mediocre stats and invincibility can get you killed against aggressive decks

Art: 4/5 Funky rabbit, but the shadow guy is pretty creepy…

Hello Pojo Fans,

Silhouhatte Rabbit brought legitimacy to Trap Cards that summon themselves as monsters.

Generic materials to summon, this cute little critter comes in at #8 on our list of Best Cards of 2024. Link Arrows point in the best directions (diagonal) for a Link 2 and at 1500ATK it has respectable stats for a Link 2. Rabbit is an Illusion Monster, so you won’t destroy any monsters with it, but you are using Silhouhatte Rabbit to Set a Continuous Trap from your Deck that can be Special Summoned. We’re long past Zoma or Apophis being the only Trap that can become a monster on the field. You can play Rabbit in Gadgets to get to Stronghold, or Eldlich for any of the Golden Land cards (Eldlich support coming in 2025), but the card most were searching with Rabbit was Angel Statue – Azurune to negate and destroy an opponent’s monster summon. Silhouhatte Rabbit is great because it is a +1 on summon and can only get better with its second effect. While you can’t immediately link it away, you’ve gotten your utility from it.

If Rabbit is on the board when you Special Summon your Continuous Trap to the Monster Zone, or Special Summon a monster from the Spell/Trap Zone to the Monster Zone, Rabbit can pop a Spell/Trap of the opponents. Snake-Eye Special Summon from the Spell/Trap Zone, Centur-Ion Special Summon from the Spell/Trap Zone, and Toy Box Special Summon from the Spell/Trap Zone. If you are able to do this during your opponent’s turn (like with your Continuous Trap you search off Sihouhatte Rabbit) you are gaining disruption during their turn which equals advantage for you.

This tiny monster further increased Snake-Eye dominance and it wasn’t intended to. It was meant for players playing Continuous Trap Monsters, but it inadvertently became a staple in Snake-Eye and many decks because of its ease in summoning and ability to be a solid utility card without disrupting the flow/strategy of the deck.

Before 2024, you didn’t see much of the Trap Monster gimmick outside Eldlich, but now any Deck can use the good generic Trap Monsters thanks to this card: from The Infinite Forbidden att #8, we have Silhouhatte Rabbit.

Silhouhatte Rabbit is a Link-2 LIGHT Illusion with 1500 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. Fine ATK for a Link-2, the arrows are great, and LIGHT/Illusion is a decent combination. Materials are any 2 Effect Monsters, so be prepared to turn Tokens and Normal Monsters into Link Spiders to summon this. We got all the regular Illusion stuff where monsters can’t be destroyed in battles involving this card, with it having the Eye of Illusion in its art of course. The remaining effects are each a HOPT, the first triggering upon being Link Summoned to set any Continuous Trap that could summon itself as a monster directly from the Deck, but you cannot use this as Link Material for the rest of the turn. It’s a good card to end on to get to Silhouhatte Trick for some negation or Angel Statue – Azurune to stop an opponent’s Special Summon. It’s great in archetypes that use Trap Monsters as well like the aforementioned Eldlich and the upcoming Argostars to get to the archetypal Trap Monsters. Giving up using this as Link Material is fine since it does get you to some of your more powerful Trap Monsters in return. The other effect triggers if a card in the Spell & Trap Zone is Special Summoned to the Monster Zone, letting you target a Spell/Trap the opponent controls and destroy it. Free Spell/Trap removal is decent enough for summoning your Trap Monsters at least, it’d be too broken if it was any card you could destroy. Silhouhatte Rabbit has been a mainstay in many Extra Decks for giving utility to an old mechanic. Decks that Link Summon several monsters should play this when they can with the utility Trap Monster of choice, it’s a fairly good card.
