Hello Pojo Fans,

Delta of Invitation is a new Field Spell that, while not Zombie World, could be something that Zombies would consider playing

A Foolish Burial for Level 5 or higher Zombie monsters when activated, each copy is another Foolish Burial you can play in Zombies, as long as you pack a couple high-level Zombie-Type monsters (Eldlich). The Delta Token-producing ability each turn while a Zombie monster is on the field adds a body on the field that is Level 5 and gives Zombies more material to use for Synchro and Link Summoning.

Popping a monster back from the grave to the hand will get you back Delta of Invitation. Handy to have if you want to return a monster to the hand from your grave (Eldlich). It isn’t an impfactful effect as most secondary effects or grave effects on Field Spells, but if returning monsters from the grave to the hand is in part of your strategy then it lessens the copies of Delta of Invitation you have to run.

Aside from Eldlich that I’ve mentioned, this is something that could be seen with the Vendread and Revendread monsters. Old-school Vampire monsters are good targets for this card (they needed this when first released) and Balerdroch, who is king zombie other than Eldlich in the game. As for competitive builds it comes back to Eldlich because of the structured support already in the archetype, the consistency the archetype offers, and how Eldlich can return itself from the grave and add this back. The token is useless for attacking but gives you something to work with and is immediately a Link 1 that can be summoned with a Token. Zombies don’t have a Link 1 but they have plenty of Link 2 and above monsters to choose from.

A decent Field Spell for Zombies because they will be running Balerdroch, and Eldlich have another card to consider for their builds.

Time for more generic Zombie support, this one was made to help Eldlich mainly, but it can be run in many Zombie Decks in general: Delta of Invitation.

Delta of Invitation is a Field Spell that when activated can let you send any Level 5 or higher Zombie monster from your Deck to the graveyard. The immediate suspect for this is Eldlich the Golden Lord so you can continuously revive him off his effect. Doomking Balderoch is also an option since he’ll come back while you have a Field Spell up during each Standby Phase, though you would hope to swap to Zombie World eventually since Balderoch is better under that Field Spell. You could send a lot of the Vendread monsters or Changshi the Spiridao as well for your Zombie good stuff. The remaining effects are each a HOPT, the first letting you summon a Delta Token (Zombie/DARK/Level 5/ATK 0/DEF 0) if you already control a Zombie, so you can get free Link or Synchro material just for having a Zombie on the field. The other effect triggers while it is in the graveyard and a monster(s) is added from your graveyard back to your hand, letting you also grab this back as well. The most obvious synergy with Eldlich there is since you can just send this away to grab back and summon Eldlich the Golden Lord and then Delta of Invitation will also return to you. You can only activate 1 of these a turn, so you can’t get multiple Zombies into the graveyard. It’s overall a strong support card for Zombie strategies, getting your bigger Zombies in the graveyard, which most already want to be there for their effects anyways. The Token is a nice bonus to make your Extra Deck plays as well and the recovery is useful for an Eldlich grind game. Worthy to run a few copies of this in many Zombie strategies for consistency.

Zombies get another bone with the generic Field Spell Delta of Invitation. As a generic, the only real ways to search it are Terraforming and the Rainbow Bridge engine, though you can also weave it into Zombie Synchro combos using Necroworld Banshee, Zombie World, and Ancient Fairy Dragon. Delta can only be activated once per turn, and its first effect triggers on activation, letting you send any level 5 or higher Zombie to the Graveyard. It’s like peanut butter and jelly! The most hyped application of Delta was Eldlich the Golden Lord, as you will conveniently be able to send Delta itself to recycle and effectively revive Eldlich. It’s also conveniently set up Doomking Balerdroch all by itself without the need for Zombie World. However, the most surprising benefit of Delta has been for Vendread, which was a surprise rogue hit in the OCG with its new support. With Delta, you can send Scar of the Vendread to search their powerful backrow, opening up a lot of combo lines. Delta’s second effect, which is hard once per turn along with its final effect, can only be used while you control a Zombie monster, summoning a Delta Token to your field as a level 5 DARK Zombie Normal monster with 0 attack and defense. I’ll never say no to a free body, and if you’re not using it as Synchro material you can always turn it into Link Spider to Link climb with. Delta’s final effect triggers if either player adds a card to their hand from the Graveyard while it’s in your Graveyard, fittingly letting you recycle it back to your hand as well. This is obviously meant to synergize with Eldlich, though for any deck it’s always nice to recover resources and get follow-up. Overall, it’s an extremely solid generic Zombie card; I think it’s an instant 3-of in Eldlich and Vendread, and I can only complain about what it could’ve done if it could foolish any Zombie instead. On that note, Dark Necromancer is also a monster to keep an eye on…

+Fantastic combo starter and extender for many Zombie decks
+Token is versatile as Link or Synchro material
-Limited to sending level 5 or higher Zombies
-Can’t be weaved into combos without Ancient Fairy Dragon
