Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights – YuGiOh Review

Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights starts off our week.

Warrior decks have been waiting for this card. A free search off the summon, and needing only 2 Warrior-Type monsters to Link Summon this makes it a great go-to card. You may not be able to use that monster or summon it that turn, but it is still a search. The second effect is specific to Equip Spell-based decks. The more equips sent to the grave the higher the level monster you can Special Summon from the deck. Noble Knights are obviously the deck for this Link Monster to excel in, but if you run a few equip spells you could pull a low level Warrior from your deck. The main reason why Isolde is so hyped is its search ability off the Link Summon. She can then be used to make a Link 3 or higher monster in the same turn and you are set for the next turn with your serached Warrior. HERO, Noble Knights, Samurai all can play this card, though Samurai it may slow down with the restriction of playing it the same turn it is searched.

A great Warrior card to search and set up, and for Noble Knights it gives the deck an awesome search and Special Summon monster.

Good New Cards! Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights is a Link 2 Light Warrior-type Link Monster with 1600 Atk and Bottom Diagonal Arrows. The reason this card is so good is because Warriors have ROTA already. That means in a decent Warrior Build, including Noble Knights, you can meet the requirements to properly Link Summon  Isolde, that being 2 Warriors. Upon Link Summon you can search any Warrior from the deck to your hand. No Level requirements, nothing archetype specific. This is a hard once per turn effect, but again, potentially 2 ROTA effects in one turn is beautiful. You can’t really do anything for the rest of the turn with the monster you get, but it’s still worth it. That effect would have been enough, but Isolde has a more Noble Knight specific effect as well. Once per turn, you can send a bunch of differently named Equip Spell Cards from the deck to the grave to Special Summon a Warrior from the deck whose Level equals the number of Equip Spell Cards. Other Warrior decks can utilize this, but Equip Spell Cards aren’t that great in general. Thinning the deck is good, but there are other ways to do that as well. Anyway, Isolde is great as a combo extender because of the arrows, and an excellent searcher. Own this with ROTA forever.

We got another week of Extreme Force cards ahead of us this week starting off with another hyped up Link Monster in Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights.

Isolde is a Light Warrior Link-2 with 1600 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. Type and attribute are pretty solid, ATK is mediocre for a Link-2, but I like the arrows. The summoning requirements are two Warrior Monsters, sounds easy enough. When Link Summoned, you can add 1 Warrior monster from the deck to the hand but you cannot summon or activate the effects of that monster searched for the remainder of the turn. This is most likely to prepare for later, but a search is still a search and a search is always nice, also makes sure it pays for itself on the Link Summon. For the other effect, you can send any number of Equip Spells from the Deck to the GY to summon a Warrior with a level equal to the number of Equips sent from the Deck. Obvious Noble Knight synergy is obvious, but there are still other fun combos with this. Both effects are a hard once per turn to balance this out, which is nice cause the two effects it has is pretty good and the hard once per turn on each effect doesn’t hurt too much. If you play Warrior decks, this should be one of the first Link Monsters considered for you.

What an interesting card this is.  Isolde (as those of you familiar with Shakespeare should know who she is) is a Link 2 Warrior, Light, and best suited for Noble Knight Decks.  The link arrows point diagonally down, to either direction, which should be useful if you’re taking full advantage of this card.  Very easy to bring out, requiring only two Warrior Monsters, the first effect is awesome.  You get a free search for any Warrior from your Deck, then brought to your Hand.  You can’t Normal/Special Summon another of the same Monster that turn, but it’s still a great search effect.  I’m not a huge fan of the second ability, discarding Equips to Special Summon a Warrior from the Deck equal to the number of discarded Equips.  It’s cool the Equips come from the Deck, instead of having to be on the Field, so there isn’t really a limit to the Level (so long as you have the cards in your Deck).  This IS best suited in Noble Knights, as stated, but remember too, in terms of the second effect, a Noble Knight Deck can function perfectly well without being reliant on Equips.
