So G Era wraps up in two weeks with the arrival of 2 new Trial Decks, and so I proposed that we spend the last two weeks looking at the Top 10 cards of that time period before we lay it to bed. Just to be clear, I chose these based on how much they changed the meta, and not always on how much they promise in terms of unblockable douchebaggery.

Speaking of unblockable douchbaggery, this thing knows all about bullshit the opponent can’t possibly respond to and had to result in a rules overhaul just to make the game keep up the facade that it was somewhat fun. We’ve never reviewed this enough to explain why though. But the fact is apparently still Limited to 1 in the coming era, even when people are now still allowed to Stride even when both of you are not on Grade 3 says it all. It’s not by itself bullshit, it’s the rest of the support that was, and that’s why Nightcrow’s name is as synonymous with salt as he is with the seas he’s plundering. Apparently. I don’t read enough Cray Lore on pirates doing actual, you know, pirating.

What’s up, Rogue Squad?!  For the next two weeks, Saikyo and I agreed to have a look at the most impactful cards of the G Era, so it’s not exactly the best cards per se (as that would be a LOT different than what we have here, especially if it was up to me), and spoiler alert: a lot of the cards on this list are either former or current members of the restriction/ban list, and my guess is that Saikyo’s not a fan of the water clans, as our first couple of cards on the list are from Magallanica, and this one is a personal favorite card (not just because it’s a Granblue card, but because it’s so damn good).  Remember Samurai Spirit and how it was a easy resurrection card?  Well, take away the Counterblast 1 cost and replace it with having a 7 Seas Vanguard, and that’s Nightcrow in a nutshell.  The thing that made Nightcrow find its way onto the restriction list (and still remains there to this day) is the fact that the 7 Seas archetype has so much support that placing it at anything higher than 1 per deck would be chaotic.  With that being said, I personally believe that the recent power creep of the game would end up catching up to the Grade 1 degenerates soon and makes the archetype obsolete, but until then, it’s a solid card that should stay at 1 for the time being for its flexibility.

Next Time: 7 Seas were the Grade 1 degenerates…this card is responsible for making the archetype for the Grade 2 degenerates.

Go Rogue…Go Pro…and Fight the Meta!!!
