Saikyo Cardfighter R Oh dear. Or oh DEER, could the wording on this get any more confusing? Broken down, when placed, you pay the cost, look at the top 7 cards, reveal up to 2 Crits, stack them on top, the others get shuffled and placed at the bottom of the deck randomly. So you don’t shuffle the whole deck, just the remaining cards in the scry-ed stack. But yes, this is the sum of your efforts in Standard OTT. When Imperial Daughter doesn’t cut it, you Soulblast the 2 Grade 3s from before to make enormous fuck-off columns, although not Soul Saver Dragon levels of fuck-off but nice all the same. Sadly, this means that this has even more Imperial Daughter problems in that sitting on this as a Vanguard at all, never mind a first, is undesirable. And yet this has to be run because Imperial Daughter isn’t the best finisher. I mean you COULD, but the deck would be rather inconsistent. Looking at the actual advantage given, it’s basically 20k to all columns assuming a full field. Not everything is a Heal worth 20k shield so each attack will have to spend 2 more cards just to fend off everything that turn on average, but then of course any stacked Critical triggers means another 10k (or another Grade 1 or 2 Grade 2s). So yes, this is sort of necessary if you want a strong push in an otherwise defensive clan. Pray you don’t ride this early, but still sort of needed. 2.5/5 |
What’s up, Rogue Squad?! Now, unfortunately, this will probably be my last week of CotD’s since I will be dealing with back surgery next week and will be out of commission for about a month or two, but that’s going to be next week, so let’s review one final week of cards. In short, the Deer is weird. It requires way too much setup though being able to stack a double Crit is really damn nice along with a full field +10k. Combine this with V Silent Tom (along with Still Water in Premium), and you have a portion of a killshot combo right then and there. However, like I mentioned earlier: this card’s setup is REALLY damn slow as it’s a double Grade 3 Soulblast AND a discard to activate. Personally, even in a Protect deck, Deer is a 1-2 of at best, and leave the Grade 3’s to Daughter and Ammy. Standard: 2/5 Premium: 1/5 (Too slow in a speedy format) Next Time: My first avatar of the game. Go Rogue…Go Pro…and Fight the Meta!!! |
