– #LED4-EN047

If this card is in your hand or GY: You can target 1 “Lunalight” card you control, except “Lunalight Yellow Marten”; return it to the hand, and if you do, Special Summon this card in Defense Position, but banish this card when it leaves the field. If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can add 1 “Lunalight” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of “Lunalight Yellow Marten” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Lunalight Yellow Marten continues the Lunalight Week and was a great edition to a now top tier deck. Yellow Marten is a great way to get double the use out of your Pendulum Lunalight monsters without losing out on any summons. You get a nice Spell/Trap when you use her as part of your Extra Deck strategy, likely netting you a Lunalight Fusion or Perfume to continue your combos. Yellow Marten can also avoid that little banish drawback if you use her as an Xyz. The ability to pull herself from the grave is also a great way of getting both her effects in one turn and gain the maximum benefit from her. Fusion with her, get a search, use your Pendulums, pop one back and use it again while getting a Summon of Yellow Marten from the grave, Xyz and avoid the banish drawback. Yellow Marten is a great combo piece to get you to what you need and give you what you need all in one turn.

Being able to reuse Pendulum Effects is good. Lunalight Yellow Marten has good defense at 2000, but everything else is forgettable. Instead, if  she is in the hand or grave, you can bounce any Lunalight card on your field back to the hand to Special Summon her in Def mode and then banish her if she leaves the field. Sure it’s once per turn, but she can come back from the banished zone with yesterday’s card or you can XYZ Summon with her and avoid banishment altogether. Upon being sent to the grave by effect, she searches a Lunalight Spell or Trap from the deck to your hand. Both effects are once per turn, but the real beauty is reusing the Lunalight Pendulum Monsters for those big boards. Lunalight Yellow Marten is essentially always useful and has great future potential in her own deck. Run 3 of this Fusion searcher.

Next up for Lunalight Week is another new monster, Lunalight Yellow Marten.

Yellow Marten is a Level 4 DARK Beast-Warrior with 800 ATK and 2000 DEF. High DEF makes up for low ATK and once again the DARK and Beast-Warrior are pretty good. If Yellow Marten is in your hand or GY, you can target a Lunalight card you control except another Yellow Marten and return it to the hand to Special Summon this card in Defense Position from the hand or GY but banish it when it leaves the field. The most optimal place to use this is in the GY, and being a Fusion archetype makes it easy for Yellow Marten to see the GY. The best cards to bounce back are Lunalight Wolf or Lunalight Tiger to use their effects once again to use a Miracle Fusion effect with Wolf or revive a monster with Tiger. Yellow Marten is banished when it leaves the field if summoned that way, but you can get around this by using Xyz monsters (Fire Fist Tiger King is good to get you to a Tenki for a search) but overall banishing it makes the card more fair and not degenerate. If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect, you can add a Lunalight Spell or Trap from your deck to your hand. A big card you can’t search with this is Luna Light Perfume for obvious reasons if you read the name, but there are still some solid Lunalight Spells and Traps. They have their own new Fusion Spell in this set, along with Serenade Dance I mentioned yesterday for a Lunalight out your deck when it is in the GY, but you also got Reincarnation Dance which will search for up to 2 Lunalight monsters when a monster you control is destroyed by battle or card effect. There are only three Lunalight Spells/Traps and I wish Perfume was in that set, but a search is a search and a search for a Fusion Spell in a Fusion archetype is good, even though the archetype already had Black Sheep to search for Polymerization. I should mention here since I forgot with Emerald Bird, but using them for Fusion Summons can trigger these secondary effects since it is a card effect sending them to the GY. Both effects of Yellow Marten are hard once per turn to prevent you from repeatedly bouncing back Tiger or Wolf in a turn and not getting too many Spells/Traps out your deck. Yellow Marten, like Emerald Bird, makes for a good extender in the Lunalight deck and this one is just a bit better than Emerald Bird. Running three isn’t bad at all.

Lunalight Yellow Marten, while still not known for offensive prowess, much like yesterday, is a Level 4, Dark/Beast-Warrior Monster, this time with only 800 attack.  But Marten backs that up with a very nice 2000 defense, so that’s something.  So, while this card is in your Graveyard or your Hand, you can Target a Lunalight you control (other than this) to return it to your Hand.

Said play lets you Special Summon Marten in Defense position.  Said card is, however, removed from play when it leaves the Field (regardless as to who did it, how they did it, and/or why).  So this card has some synergy and combinations with yesterday, and they play well off of and with each other, which is good.  So, much like yesterday also, doesn’t really need to attack.

If sent to the Graveyard by a card effect (yours or not, and that’s any card effect, but not by Battle) you get a Lunalight Magic or Trap card from your Deck to your Hand.  Since you can get Monsters with yesterday, it makes sense we’d see one to fetch other cards in the theme.  It works somewhat differently, and acts just differently enough to be a good card as well (and that defense).

Art:  4/5  Still cute, but not quite as pretty as yesterday.  Love the sky/clouds, but all that yellow isn’t quite doing it for me.
