Hello Pojo Fans,

Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz is a Throwback Thursday choice, and a welcome relief for Nekroz players.

The deck was all-but dead without this cosplaying warrior being legal, let alone being limited to 1. Now back at 3, Shurit makes Nekroz legit once more. Searchable by many ways, Shurit is your one utility for Ritual Summons of Nekroz. It’s because of needing only one monster for the entire Ritual that Shurit was so important to the deck. Not only that, but the search off being used as the one tribute for the Ritual Summon made sure you’d get back what you lost and thin your deck. Rituals aren’t without a plethora of search cards, but Shurit is the swiz-army knife for the deck. The deck runs 3 of so many monsters and spells, they needed their best non-ritual monster at 3 as well.You can get one Ritual Summon off with this guy, search another Ritual Monster, then Ritual Summon that one potentially without needing another utility card to do it, that is why Shurit was banned: he made Nekroz, a Ritual Deck too consistent and fast.

Throwback Thursday does take us to the newest card out of all of them, but it did come in 2015 so it’s still a throwback like everything else. A piece from the best Ritual archetype ever we have Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz.

Shurit is a Level 3 WATER Warrior with 300 ATK and 1800 DEF. Great DEF with poor ATK, I do like WATER somewhat, and Warrior is a great typing to make this searchable off RotA. If you Ritual Summon exactly 1 Nekroz Ritual monster, you can use this card for the entire tribute for said Ritual Summon. Great effect to make sure you don’t make that big of a minus on the Ritual Summon, this effect helped you summon the Level 9 Nekroz of Trishula easily to banish 3 of your opponent’s cards and that’s still the go-to play today, though you could use this for Nekroz of Valkyrus or Nekroz of Decisive Armor with their levels being 8 and 10 respectively. Being able to be an entire tribute for a Ritual Summon, especially for a high level Ritual, is amazing. If Shurit is tributed by a card effect, so basically used as Ritual Material, you can search for any Warrior Nekroz Ritual from the deck. It’s amazing the best non-Ritual of Nekroz that can be used as an entire requirement for a Ritual Summon will search for the best Nekroz Rituals upon being used. Your options are Nekroz of Trishula, Nekroz of Clausolas, and Nekroz of Brionac. Trishula, as I mentioned, was basically the Trishula Synchro upon Ritual Summon and could discard itself from the hand to negate the effect that targeted a Nekroz Ritual. Nekroz of Brionac discards itself to search for literally any Nekroz monster and on the field can bounce two Extra Deck monsters. The other option is Nekroz of Clausolas to discard itself to search for any Nekroz Spell/Trap (funny enough there are still no Nekroz Traps) and on the field can negate the effects of an Extra Deck monster and make its ATK 0 as a Quick Effect. It’s funny how that means this card can basically search the whole archetype since it gets to Clausolas and Brionac. Shurit is a must for Nekroz, a deck that has evolved to use Impcantations since that makes the deck more consistent. Now the only card we await to return to three is Nekroz of Unicore for this archetype to be at full power.

Throwback Thursday (amidst our Throwback week) actually seems to bring us to the most recent of these cards reviewed.  Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz also is Unlimited now.  Level 3, Water, Warrior, 300 attack but 1800 defense here.  The stats are awful, but the first effect alone makes up for that, as you know (or not) depending on how long you’ve been in the game.

Ritual Summoning 1 Nekroz Monster using a card effect requiring you to use Monsters lets you use this card alone to fulfill that Monster requirement.  Which, in a word, is phenomenal.  Anything to assist in making a Ritual Summon more easy to perform is something we need to welcome.  If Tributed by a card effect (which is also insanely easy even ignoring the first effect here:)

You get to add a Warrior type Nekroz Ritual Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  That effect is once per turn.  It’s just crazy how this card can bring out a Nekroz so easily and search for another one.  When a card is this good and able to be abused, it’s obvious why we can’t have more than 1.  And for a good while, we didn’t.  This makes Nekroz that much more playable, on a WOW factor, so play and enjoy.
