King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, I:P Masquerena A Link Monster with a Link version of Yang Zing’s Synchro abilities. Any two monsters will do to make this Link 2, just can’t be Link Monsters. Link Summon during your opponents turn into something higher than a Link 2 and added protection against destruction effects is something every player wants to do if Link Summoning. You swap a smaller monster with a bigger one that likely will have an effect(s) that benefit you, and now you give them protection to help keep them on the field until your turn. Either Main Phase of your opponent will do, Main Phase 2 may end up better if your incoming monster has less ATK than monsters on the field, but if you’re going into Link 4 that won’t matter. This is a great card. Easy to use, easy to understand, the best kind of cards. It would suck for your opponent if you went into a Borrel or Skull Dread on their turn. Negation will be the aim of this card, but honestly the only limit this has is the number of monsters you control. Advanced-4/5 Art-4.5/5- Could’ve been a U.A., and would’ve been good to see some more support for that archetype. Until Next Time |
Crunch$G We now go from a powerful boss monster, to a much smaller Link Monster that lets you play during the opponent’s turn in I:P Masquerena. Masquerena is a Link-2 DARK Cyberse with 800 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. Very poor ATK on a Link-2, even if it won’t last on the field for long, but being DARK and Cyberse does somewhat make up for this. The summoning requirements are any 2 non-Link monsters, so you don’t have to waste time turning Tokens into Link-1 monsters to try and get this out, and you got more than enough non-Link monsters in the whole game. During your opponent’s Main Phase, you can activate this effect to where immediately after it resolves, you can Link Summon any Link using monsters you control as material, just as long as you include this card. It’s already great to use certain Links like Knightmare Unicorn and Topologic Zeroboros on your own turn, but to summon them on the opponent’s turn when they’ll be more disruptive is excellent utility to have. You’d be likely to use this effect as well since you don’t want an 800 ATK monster going into the opponent’s Battle Phase. It’s great as well if you locked yourself into a certain Type or Attribute of monster and want to summon something else so this can do it on the opponent’s turn before you’re likely to lose the materials for that monster. The Link Summon on the opponent’s turn is a hard once per turn, but that’s perfectly fine. I:P also has another effect where if it’s used as Link Material, whether it’s by her own effect or not, the monster summoned using it cannot be destroyed by card effects. I appreciate the free protection on a monster that otherwise wouldn’t have it. It wouldn’t be fun to deal with something like an Apollousa or a Borrelsword that you can’t use effects on to try and destroy. All you need to do is just use this as Link Material, and Link-2s make for great climbing material on the Link Ladder. Masquerena is a great generic Link-2 that any Deck can use to get a Knightmare Unicorn on the opponent’s turn or whatever you’d have in store with it. Advanced Rating: 4.5/5 Art: 5/5 She’s kinda cute. She looked like U.A. support when we first saw her, but I guess we gotta wait longer for that. |
Alex Searcy I always feel bad to miss a review, I just did NOT have the time this weekend to type out my reviews (But I did post a review for Monday yesterday evening). Anyway, I:P Maquerena shifts us from Synchro to Link. She’s a small card, being a Link 2, and a Dark, Cyberese Monster, with all of 800 attack and arrows pointing to the respective bottom diagonals. Any 2 non-Link Monsters are required for a Link Summon. This card, as should be apparent, has combo written all over her. A Quick Effect (immediately after resolution) letting you Link into anything you can given what you have on the Field, so long as you use Masquerena herself as Material. Which is a fun effect. That’s honestly almost all there is to this card. The free and immediate Link upon the Summon is fantastic, and you’re rewarded for what else you have. Using this Monster for another Link Monster gives the newly Summoned Link Monster protection from card effects (from either player) which is welcome as well. You get a bonus for using this card after investing Material to Link Summon Masquerena herself. All of this negates the downside of this card having such a paltry attack score of her own, but it wouldn’t matter if she had an insanely high one either. Very solid card. Rating: 4.25/5 for combo potentials Art: 4.75/5 I’d like a little more bright/color in this, while she is pretty, I’m still longing for a bit more. I’m also not seeing much masquerade in here, which disappoints me, given the name. But she’s playful and having a good time. |
