King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Instant Fusion is our Throwback Thursday choice. A card that has been a big mainstay in the Main Deck of many decks since its release, and, as the Fusion pool for it grows it will get better. 1/8 of your life points for a Level 5 Fusion gives you a free monster to do with as you please. Xyz, Synchro, Tribute, use for fodder for an effect(s), anything. Thousand Eyes Restrict is a classic choice for Instant Fusion, netting you a +1 off absorbing a monster, then turning your Thousand Eyes into a Linkuriboh. Because it’s treated as a Fusion Summon you can also go after monsters that require you Fusion Summon them first. The Elder Entity monsters were some of the most popular to summon, especially Norden. Sea Monster of Theseus is the only Tuner you can summon with this to set up Synchro Summons, while negation cards like Fiend Skull Dragon and Dark Baltar the Terrible are great targets for protection during big plays. So many monsters can be summoned by Instant Fusion, it doesn’t matter that you can’t attack with that monster. This is a utility card, splashable in any deck that can make room for a few targets or even just one in the Extra Deck. Advanced-4/5 Art-4/5 Until Next Time |
Crunch$G Throwback Thursday leads us to a card I mentioned a few times on Monday, Instant Fusion. Instant Fusion is a Normal Spell that at the cost of 1000 LP lets you summon any Level 5 or lower Fusion from the Extra Deck, and this is treated as a Fusion Summon. The summoned monster cannot attack and it is destroyed in the End Phase. Well first off there’s only a handful of monsters you can’t really summon off this, Gem-Knight Seraphinite comes to mind, but other than that you got free reign to get anything with this counting as a Fusion Summon. Elder Entity Norden is always going to be the best option for this, which is why it’s the only Instant Fusion target that’s banned. The best legal targets would probably go to Thousand-Eyes Restrict to take an opponent’s monster or Millennium-Eyes Restrict to get around hand traps. You got versatility here as well since this can summon monsters that could match Levels, Types, or Attributes you need. Kaminari Attack was good with Thunder Dragons, Cyber-Saurus was once a great option in Karakuri, Karbonala Warrior is a good Level 4 Warrior, you had Rare Fish for a Level 4 WATER but it is replaced by the better Mudragon of the Swamp since it’s a good Super Polymerization target as well, you even got a Level 5 Tuner in Sea Monster of Theseus. Shaddolls can summon Winda to revive later, or Orcust did it to protect the Winda with Dingrisu. The biggest downside besides the destruction and non-attacking, which doesn’t matter as much when you used the summoned monster as material, is the hard once per turn clause which is interesting since this was one of the earliest cards to get that clause. Instant Fusion has so much versatility, even without Elder Entity Norden, so I wouldn’t be completely shocked to see Instant Fusion go one day and we could MAYBE see Norden come off the list as a result, even if that does end up being a terrifying Super Poly target. Alex Searcy I felt as though we’d done this more than we had, but Throwback Thursday (Instant Fusion) has only been done twice before. Maybe we should have waited until next year, as the reviews were in 07 and 14, next would’ve been 21. Anyway, links below for the two prior reviews: Instant Fusion is one of the greatest non-Magical Scientist Fusion combo cards this game has ever seen. Paying 1000 Lifepoints to Special Summon a Level 5 or lower Fusion (from the Extra Deck) is a bargain in about any situation. It can’t attack and is destroyed during the End Phase, but none of that matters. You’re either winning that turn, or using that Fusion for Material for anything else. This literally works in about every Deck possible. It can be so vague as to what you need or happen to bring out in the situation, but it can be as specific as you need too. Meaning, if you need a certain Type/Attribute Fusion to XYZ/Link whatever, then as long as you have said Monster in your Extra Deck, you can bring it out. This is a classic case of this card doesn’t do that much ON ITS OWN… But it’s a hell of a tech/combo card Rating: 4.75/5 Art: So…I’ve always associated this with being a flask, that’s just what I see, but clearly it’s a warped can of some sort. The top is popped ever so slightly. We have a couple of token Fusion Swirls here. Meh 3.5/5 |
