Zubababancho Gagagacoat
– #LED6-EN035
If you control a “Zubaba” or “Gagaga” monster except “Zubababancho Gagagacoat”, while this card is in your hand: You can Special Summon this card. You can target 1 “Gogogo” or “Dododo” monster in your GY; Special Summon it, also you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Xyz Monsters. You can only use each effect of “Zubababancho Gagagacoat” once per turn.

Crunch$G Who’s ready for a ton of onomatopoeia? This week we look at Yuma’s cards, which means we get a lot of weird names, speaking of which here’s Zubababancho Gagagacoat Zubababancho Gagagacoat is a Level 4 EARTH Warrior with 1800 ATK and 100 DEF. Good ATK to make up for near nonexistent DEF, EARTH is fine and Warrior is real good here. The first effect is if you control either a Zubaba or Gagaga monster that isn’t a Zubababancho Gagagacoat while this card is in your hand, you can Special Summon it. A free body for summoning another monster is really good, especially with there being a batch of Gagaga monsters worth running, but a lack of Zubaba monsters. At least Utopic Onomatopoeia is all 4 of Yuma’s subarchetypes and doesn’t have a super convoluted name. Most of your monsters in this Deck full of different archetypes is all meant to Rank 4 spam, which I’m sure we all missed from Master Rule 3. The second effect lets you target a Gogogo or Dododo monster in your graveyard and Special Summon it. You got options here like Gogogo Giant, Gogogo Golem, Dododo Witch, and the aforementioned Utopic Onomatopoeia to summon off this. It’s real strong Rank 4 spam fodder. It locks your Extra Deck summons to Xyz Summons the turn you use the second effect, but Xyz Summoning is probably what you want to do. Each effect is a hard once per turn, because the Rank 4 toolbox is strong enough without the ability to spit every Rank 4 in the game out turn 1. It’s actually a really good card that helps set up Xyz Summons with either the first or second effect, and those Xyz Summons once again are mostly for Rank 4s, the most powerful Rank in the game. You play 3 of this in Onomatopoeia Decks without question. Advanced Rating: 4.25/5 Art: 3.75/5 Zubaba Knight stole Gagaga Magician’s coat I see. |
Alex Searcy So naturally we’ve moved into a Yuma week Throwback Thursday guesses anyone? Zubababancho Gagagacoat kicks this week of ridiculously named cards 1800 attack on Level 4 is good (100 defense is not). Warrior is usually a sound choice even if Earth may not be This card does two things Neither Ian game breaking exactly but what it does, it does well enough Controlling a Zubaba or Gagaga card lets you Special Summon this card. Easy enough and no unnecessary hoops to jump through there, and as Yuma is the XYZ era, that should net you a Rank 4 at the very least. While on the Field, you can Special Summon a Gogogo or Dododo Momster, which covers all of Yuma’s silly names Monsters At this point you could easily spam with two Rank 4 or even a triple material Rank 4. Speed is what counts with XYZ Monsters and in these themes or a dedicated Yuma deck, this is easily a 3 of. Rating: 3.75 Art: 3.5/5 none for the art this week is particularly inspiring |
King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Zubababancho Gagagacoat is the first card we’re looking at for a Gagaga theme week. Special Summon from the hand is a good effect to have, especially when the only thing you need to have is a monster that you run in the archetype. Level 4’s don’t typically Special Summon themselves, but hey, not complaining. Gagagacoat is a one-card Xyz source, either by Special Summoning a Gogogo or Dododo in your grave, or using itself and another monster currently on the field. Gagaga Magician on the field to change the levels would be optimal, allowing your Gagagacoat to get any level Dododo or Gogogo and change up levels for the Xyz Summon. Being held to Xyz summons for the turn isn’t too bad since the archetype does that a lot, also, Gagagacoat has those great words “for the rest of this turn” meaning you can Link/Synchro/Fusion beforehand and then use Gagagacoat’s effect(s) and lock into Xyz. Gagaga and the other wordplays that came after can Special Summon and Xyz/Synchro pretty easily and have a vault of support behind them, but it’s always nice to see a monster come out that can Special Summon itself (or be a standard Normal Summon) and pull a monster out of your grave onto the field to use for what the deck does best: Xyz Summon. Advanced-3.5/5- Would be higher but you won’t always have a target for Gagagacoat in the grave and will have to run targets for it. Art-3/5 Until Next Time |
Zubababagancho Gagagacoat is a pretty straightforward card. It works only in Onomatopoeia decks, and it adds synergy to the 4 major archetypes in that series (Gogogo, Gagaga, Dododo and Zubaba). This card, along with others released with it, really start the process of making the Onomatopoeia series feel like a viable “primary protagonist” deck, which is something that had been missing from Zexal. The effects aren’t amazing, but they serve their purposes and open up plays. The card is carefully worded to prevent loops, so it won’t get much niche utility. Both effects being HOPT is a good thing, and restricting Extra Deck summons to XYZ Monsters only stops it from being used to abuse “laddering”. Within it’s archetypes/series, it’s a shining card. The problem is that it’s archetypes/series still isn’t going to see much use. I hope we get more cards for this series that can make it do even more combos. Right now, I can see it making Gogogo lockdown a bit more stable with a few new bridge plays. More of that would be great. I don’t like the design of the card. The name is (necessarily) obnoxious and the art is dull. If there wasn’t the signature glowing outline, nothing would really stand out in the picture. Versatility – 1 – It has no function outside of it’s series. Rogue Plays – 4 – It can easily be used to get things going. Art – 1 – It really looks like it is radiating b.o. Balance – 5 – The effects are good, but they can’t run rampant. Uniqueness – 2 – Other cards do similar things. Overall, I’ll give Zubababagancho Gagagacoat 2 out of 5. |
