Toon Bookmark – Yu-Gi-Oh! Review

Toon Bookmark should have been released alongside Toon Kingdom.

Another way to search other than Toon Table of Contents. Because it has the “once per turn” restriction I can’t see people running it alongside Toon Table of Contents like they’d do in DDT LONG ago, but you never know. You can never get enough search options in an archetype to choose from. Searches any card other than itself that mentions “Toon World” or is “Toon World” (no one is playing the original anymore). The added banish ability to protect your “Toon World” is protection Toon Kingdom needed as it only can protect your toon monsters. Bookmark and Kingdom were made to work in conjunction with one another: Bookmark searches Kingdom, then protects it from the grave. People will run three of Bookmark, hit it first turn and burn through all the Toon Table on Contents and get to their desired toon card…that’s a minimum of nine cards into your deck on your first turn assuming you didn’t draw any Toon Table of Contents.

More draw power for toons was needed and even at it being a “once per turn” Toon Bookmark is just what the artist ordered.

Toon week continues with an added consistency boost alongside some protection, Toon Bookmark.

Toon Bookmark is a Normal Spell that upon activation lets you search for Toon World or any card that mentions Toon World in the effect text. This is nice to finally have a way to search cards like Comic Hand and Mimicat in the Deck, plus you got another card to search for your Toon monsters considering they all mention Toon World and you can also get to Toon Kingdom, which is just a far better Toon World. The second effect lets you banish this card from the grave if Toon World would be destroyed by a card effect to protect it from destruction. Perfect way to protect Toon Kingdom considering it’s always treated as Toon World on field, and you want it to make your Toons not basically act as vanillas and have big direct attackers. We needed ways to protect Toon Kingdom, the extra consistency is just a bonus. You can only activate 1 Toon Bookmark per turn, but that’s fine considering Toons got Toon Table of Contents already. It’s a 3 of in Toons, it gives everything you could want.

Moving into the support side of things brings us to Toon Bookmark.  This is a normal Magic card, similar to Toon Table is Contents, but a better card than that.  This is a search all for the Deck.

Fetching any card that specifically cites Toon World in its Text makes this very valuable.  Present company here is excluded of course.  I think that would be wasteful anyway.  

It’s a wonderful card to Draw and thin the Deck, and it protects the destruction of a Toon World card(s) while in the Graveyard simply by removing itself from play.  You can only play one per turn but given the abuse you can pull off with one, I deem that necessary.
